When you become a mother
It's forever, no breaks or time away
You are expected to be about for them
Every single minute night or dayIt doesn't matter how old they are
Or what the problem may be
It's normally mum that gets the call
And mum who filters what dad gets to seeI love being a mother
It's what I always wanted in life
Have kids to love and cherish
Make a family and be a good wifeBut time and age change what's important
As they grow what they need changes too
Your love and understanding
Determination and patience to make it throughAs everyday surprises you with new drama
Something you just hadn't planned for
A solution you'll work out together
Which makes you want to strive for moreTo provide the best home environment
All the love they could possibly need
To generate that stable foundation
For them to go fourth and succeedIt's a thankless task , no mistaking
As teens they will fight you all the way
But when they grow up and become adults
It's with a heavy heart that you watch them strayInto a world that's so unforgiving
That you feel that are not ready for
A place you won't be able to help them
To hold open any obstructing doorFor when they reach this stage in life
You must just let them go
As hard as this is for parents
This is how as adults they will blossom and growFor they are your children for a lifetime
To love and cherish everyday
But for them to mature into adulthood
Parents must not stand in their way........
