Hours later I was sick the tennis ball being thrown at my door then bouncing down the steps in knew who it was but I didn’t want to talk to Jax. Not about this, not about anything right now.
THUNK!
Thunk… thunk… thunk… roll.
I mentally screamed at myself and opened the door. Barely catching the tennis ball that was headed for my face. I chucked the ball down the stairs and saw… It wasn’t Jaxton. It was some one different. Someone from the brother pack, I guessed.
“Nice arm. Its about time! I’ve been doing this for about an hour now!” he said then yawned. “I was getting bored.” I slightly smiled at him. “Sam wants to see you, follow me Mia.” I linked my arm in his as he led me out side to the roaring bonfire. I smiled at all the unfamiliar faces and nodded at the ones I recognized.
Before I knew it I was in a giant bear hug. I laughed and hugged the large body that kept me in place. With the musky earth sent I knew exactly who it was.
“Hey Papa Bear,” I heard Rieley laugh but I just smiled.
“Why hello moon child.” Sam said and let go of me to look at me. “You grew up well kid. You’re Aunt Mona did a fantastic job.” At the mention of Aunt Mona I looked around the circle she was smiling at me sitting next to Uncle Blake. I returned the soft smile and grinned at Sam.
“Well Paris did a few good things… mostly bad things though.” I joked. A laugh erupted from Sam’s chest. I sat down on a log next to the guy who brought me here.
“Well boys, you can eye her all you want but do not touch her, the same rules apply for Mia as they do Rieley.” I grinned as I saw a few guys looking at me tongues almost dropping out of their mouths.
Jaxton was leaning against a log and glaring at the guy next to me. Glancing over I noticed he had draped an arm around my waist. I didn’t care much as long as it stayed right there. And if it bugged Jaxton the more power to it.
“Mia.” I looked to my left to see Kenny. I grinned when I saw him. Rieley and I used to tease Kenny all the time as kids. I got up and sat myself in between the guy who brought me here and Kenny.
“Kenny.” I laughed and hugged him. “You grew up well” I smiled poking his side.
“So did you Miss Mia.”he laughed as he hugged me back and patted his lap. He knew me too well. I put my legs on his lap and leaned against his warm body.
Like always Sam started telling stories. The same ones he told every year. I didn’t pay much attention. I felt a change of heat against my back and knew it was Jaxton. I hit him with my arm, my eyes still closed. He quietly chuckled.
“Come on Mia, lets get you to bed.” I could tell both boys were trying not to laugh. I knew I should make it easier on myself and just go with Jax.
“Kenny… tomorrow we will hang out.” I stated and reached back for Jax who picked me up in his arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck and nuzzled my face into his neck. I felt him take a step then another. By the third step I was falling asleep yet again.
The next thing I knew I felt my back come into contact with something soft, my bed. I groaned and grabbed Jaxton’s shirt and pulled him onto the bed next to me.
“Don’t leave Jax… Please?” I asked peering into his eyes for the first time in years.

“Don’t leave Jax… Please?” Mia asked me looking into my eyes. The way she looked at me made my body stiffen and my heart melt. Alone Mia had pulled me onto her bed and cuddled up next to my side. I let out a sigh. It was strained, but quiet.
“Okay Mia. I’ll stay.” she smiled and then sat up my hand followed her back. I felt that as if I couldn’t be this close and not touch her every second. I watched her take off her shoes and throw them into her closet. She started to grab her shirt but I pulled her back into me. I kicked off my boots and put her under the covers. She smiled at me. I slipped my jacket off along with my shirt and then laid down on top of her covers.
Mia’s hands found my collar bone and traced her fingers along it. I put my arm under her head so she could put her head on my shoulder. When I looked over her eyes were closed and her breathing calm.
My wolf was loving how close she was. The rational side was fearing it. I was in a bed with my mate. She looked so relaxed. She looked like she trusted me. As kids Mia and I never got along; we teased each other, fought, pushed one another into the lake. I looked at the gorgeous girl laying next to me. She has grown up in so many ways. And so have I. I looked at Mia and then at how close our bodies are.
“Mia.” I told my sleeping angel. “I will never treat you as a lesser person. You will always be my mate, my equal.” I looked at her smiling face. I wrapped her up in my arms and fell into a dreamless sleep.
My mind drifted away from how relaxed I was. It drifted back when my father told me of Mia’s freak out earlier. She was crying, helpless, and I wasn’t near by to help her. She may not want me here every second she turns her back but I need to be.
Something is wrong… Someone is back that hasn’t been in years. Mia wont be alone in this battle. I can promise her and everyone in the two packs that.
