Autumn. Brown leaves flitted to the ground, making the trees barren and empty. It happened every year, yet this was special, and for a few reasons. It was the very first day of Jean's last year at high school, and he was going to spend it with Marco. So on that day Jean walked to school with a smile, something that never happened.

He stepped through the doors, and he immediately walked to where Marco was positioned by the front desk. "Hey Jean, I actually need to talk to you." Marco greeted, as soft and happy as ever. "Great, I'd love to see your schedule at lunch, we can talk then." Jean suggested. "Sure, see ya." Marco agreed before walking off to his first class.

It had mostly been boring, aside from the few classes Jean actually had friends in. It was around eleven thirty, meaning it was first lunch. Jean and Marco both had first lunch, all seniors had first lunch, along with the juniors. It was bustling and noisy per usual. The table was loud and obnoxious as ever. "Hey Jean, I wanted to ask you an important question." Marco said unannounced as soon as the pair sat down.

"Alright, ask." Jean responded. "Well, it will be Thanksgiving soon, and I was wondering if you would like to go to Jinae with me. You would be able to meet my cousins, aswell as Jesse and Cathryn." Marco suggested. "I would like to Marco, besides, my family never does anything for Thanksgiving." Jean agreed. Marco beamed. "I'm so happy you said yes!" Marco said happily. "Yeah, don't wear it out." Jean huffed. Marco leaned in and pecked Jean on the lips.

"Awwww." Sasha gushed while stuffing her mouth with bread. "Shut up." Jean growled. "You love him!" She said while pinching Jean's cheek. "Yeah, so?" Jean said quietly. Marco blushed warmly. Jeans eyes darted around the table. Everyone's eyes were on him. "Yeah I said it, I fucking love this freckled lord." He practically yelled while gesturing towards Marco, at the same time as he was blusing madly. "Jean? . . ." Marco gazed fondly back at Jean. Jean covered his mouth, and he ran to the bathroom flustered.

"Wow, Jean has emotion. You really brought him out of his shell Marco." Armin said. Marco nodded, and he stood, taking his tray to dump it before leaving to find Jean.

Knock. Knock. Knock. "Jean, you in there?" Marco asked as he knocked on the bathroom stall. "Yeah, hold on a second." Jean said as a click was heard, indicating that the stall was unlocked. Marco tentatively opened the door. Jean's face was red, and he was sitting on the toilet. He wasn't using the bathroom, but he was crying. "Jean." Marco said, shyly putting his hand through Jean's hair.

"I'm sorry, I'm an embarrassment to us Marco." Jean choked out. "Jean, you are not a embarrassment, you are amazing. You're-" Jean interrupted. "Why the fuck do you want to be around me, I make you look like a fool!" Jean shouted abruptly. "Then if that's true, then I am the happiest fool alive. I would never trade you for anyone else Jean. I want you to know that." Marco responded softly. Marco was the quietest and most nurturing, Berthold is to, but Jean liked Marco more.

Marco continued to run his fingers through Jean's hair, even if they were placed awkwardly in a bathroom stall. "Uh guys, we're gonna be late to Mrs. Zoe's class. So, quit making out in the stall." Eren said, but then he bolted. "Jaeger!" Jean shouted in defiance. Marco snickered. "Jean, before we go, I want you to know that I love you too." Marco said, leaving Jean speechless as he left the bathroom.

The day before they began their trip, packing day, had been nice. "So Marco, what will I need?" Jean asked over the phone. "Just the essentials, pack warm." Marco sad simply, voice crackling over the terrible connection. Jean pondered on what 'pack warm' meant, so he decided just to pack a weird sweater he had gotten the week before.
