Dipper's P.O.V

I was about to skype Mabel when I heard Grunkle Ford call me downstairs. He said there was a surprise for me. I was excited to see what it was but what I really wanted was to talk to Mabel. She barely talks about school when I try to mention it though. It's like she's trying to avoid the subject whenever I bring it up because she turns the conversation around to something about me.

I slowly walked down the stairs. "What is it Grunkle Ford? I was just about to call Mabel?" I asked and saw his smiling face. "You don't have to call her." He said and I was confused. "Why?" I asked. "Because I'm right here dummy." I turned around and saw Mabel but she looked different.

Instead of a bright smile and a sweater she had baggy eyes filled with eyeliner and a small smile. She was wearing a plain gray tshirt with leggings and combat boots. I could tell something was wrong. This wasn't the Mabel I watched leave Gravity Falls two months ago. And why was she here? It's a Wednesday?

When my parents and I arrived at the Mystery Shack I ran up to the door. I ran through and saw Grunkle Stan, instantly I jumped on his back giving him a hug. "Grunkle Stan." I said happily. "Hey pumpkin." He said when I got off his back and he hugged me. "So what are you doing here?" He asked questionably. "Just visiting." I said. I mean it wasn't a complete lie. I was here mostly because I got suspended and my parents thought it'd be nice if I saw Dipper.

"Dipper is going to be so happy to see you." He said and turned around to see Grunkle Ford. I have him a hug too. "Where's Dipper?" I asked. "He's upstairs I'll go get him." He said smiling and walked away. My mom walked up to Grunkle Stan and stood beside him. "Go say hi to Dipper honey, your father and I have a few things to discuss with your great uncle." She said and I knew they were going to tell him. I frowned and rolled my eyes, walking away.

Present in Mabel's P.O.V again

Dipper just stared at me for a while, like he could not believe it was me. Or maybe he didn't recognize me because I looked so different. I ignored it though. "Hey Dipper, what's up bro bro?" I asked while hugging him tight. "Nothing much just solving mysteries and missing my cool twin sister." He said. "Oh why thank you nerd." I said playfully punching him in the arm.

"Now I'm putting my stuff upstairs." I said and began to walk upstairs my small backpack I packed on my back. "I'll go with you." Dipper said as we walked up together. I looked over to the side of my room and saw a blank wall and my pink bed. I took the pink sheets off and put down my new black sheet and white and black comforter. As I changed the sheets Dipper sat on his bed watching me.

When I finally finished I laid down on the bed and got comfortable. I was about to relax and maybe take a nap when Dipper opened his mouth. "How are you Mabel, you seem I don't know, different?" He asked. "I'm not that different, just changing my look up a bit." I said shrugging my shoulders with my eyes still closed. "Mabel I know something's wrong I'm your twin brother. You can tell me if anything is going on." I sat up and looked away from his pleading face. I didn't want to tell him, he would come back home with me to help me. I don't want to ruin his chance of being happy and discovering mysteries in Gravity Falls.
"It's nothing Dipper." As I said that a knock was heard on the door. Grunkle Stan came in with a grim look on his face, they told him. "Hey kiddos, want to go to the dinner." Dipper said "yes" loudly and I just shrugged.

Time skip-

We got to greasy's diner and sat down at a big booth that fit the four of us. Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford sat across from Dipper and me as we waited for lazy Susan to come take our order. "So Mabel? How's school going?" Grunkle Ford asked me, tying to make small talk I guess. "Um its been okay I guess, the classes are pretty easy." I shrugged and when Dipper was about to say something lazy Susan walked up and took our orders.

When our food finally arrived I began pushing the food on my plate around. Honestly I wasn't that hungry and Grunkle Stan seemed to notice. "Not hungry?" He asked stuffing some pancakes in his mouth. "Yeah, um I have to go to the bathroom." I mumbled leaving the booth quickly and leaned up against the wall of the bathroom.

I looked over at Mabel's full plate of food and watched her run into the bathroom. "Do you know what's going on with her?" I asked Grunkle Stan and he sighed nodding. "Your parents and I were talking about why she's staying with us. From what I heard she got suspended from school for beating this girl up. They don't know why she beat her up, Mabel won't tell them." He said. Grunkle Ford and I were shocked. Mabel would never do that.

"I have to talk to her." Then I realized she was in the bathroom. "After she gets out of the bathroom." We sat there for about ten minutes when Mabel finally came out of the bathroom. She looked like she was crying but I didn't want to bring it up yet.

When we got back at the shack I followed Mabel back up to the attic. I closed the door and Mabel flopped down on her bed. "So Mabel." I said and she interrupted me. "He told you." She said. "Yeah." I said and sat down at edge of her bed. "Why did you hurt her? What's happening to you?" I asked showing my concern hoping she would open up. "Nothing's wrong with me." She yelled sitting up. "Sorry I was defending myself okay? Sorry I'm not the perfect twin sister you want." She yelled at me. "What are you talking about? Your perfect Mabel.." "STOP IT DIPPER!" She yelled pushing me off the bed.

I just wanted him to leave the topic alone, but he wouldn't shut up. "What did I do wrong?" He asked. "Just don't ask me about that." I said and walked out of the attic and the mystery shack. I'm tired of my family telling me I'm different. This is the way the world wants me to be. And it bugs me that I can't make my family happy too. Looks like I'm not what Dipper expected to see.

I just kept walking, not caring where I was going. I need to clear my head.
