Chapter 3. What comes around goes around

"Haha hilarious" replied Eve "Not!"  Tom got off his horse and rose up to his full height right in front of me. "Tell your friend to watch it punk, or she may not be competing for a long, long time" He spat at me. "Oh yeah? Let's just see shall we" I said back to him, "let's see how your karma turns out."

With that he spun around to get back on his horse, "Not so fast!" Eve and I said at the same time. He didn't listen and got on his horse and jabbed her in the sides with his spurs. Of course, he couldn't go anywhere because I was still holding his horse's reins.

"Let. Me. Go" He snarled through gritted teeth. "On one condition," Eve taunted. "What?" Tom yelled getting redder by the second. "You get off your horse. NOW. Give her the food and rest she need's tonight, and tomorrow, you, me and Mel have a jump off. If Mel or I win, then you give your horse two weeks rest and only ride her for an hour a day max. For the rest of the term. If you win, then Mel and I will leave you alone and do your chores for the entire term," Eve said in one angry breath. "That's not fair!" argued Tom, "you guys have a bigger chance at winning! Let me at least have one of my mates compete too!" Eve opened her mouth to say no but I nudged her with my elbow. "Sure" I replied over Eve's furious face. I shook his sweaty hand and as promised, he left.

Eve and I looked at each other glumly, we both knew jumping practice today was ruined. "Oh well," I muttered, "At least Comet and Tilly can have a rest".

Eve glanced back at me as she led Tilly away. I reluctantly followed her and untacked Comet. He pushed at me as if to say, "but I thought we were just starting?"  "Tomorrow boy, I promise" I whispered in his fluffy ear. He galloped away to join his paddock mate.

I turned around and go muck out his stall wondering what tomorrow will bring...
