The Door

Chapter 12

After breakfast, we quickly ran upstairs back to the guest room. I quickly found the phone number. "Okay all we need is a phone." I said.

J.D. pointed to a small table with a telephone sitting on top of it. "Good eyes." I said while grabbing the telephone and dialing the number. The ringing made me a little nervous. I wasn't actually sure if they're gonna speak European or if they're gonna speak a little English like Lucille.

The ringing suddenly went silent and I heard a polite "Hello?"

"Oh, uh, yes...hello. I'm calling to ask you guys to come back from you guys' vacation early." I spoke a little more nervous about what the man might say next.

"Oh," the man continued in a questionable tone, "and why is that?"

I tried my best to explain everything the best way that they can understand. "Well you see, my brothers and I are not born nor raised in Avonlea or any place in Europe. We're from America and at our place, we found this door in our attic that took us to this lady's place here." I paused so that way I can know if the man understood.

"Okay." The man responded.

Then I continued, "She never knew about the portal that was in her living room. And we want to know if you would come back a little early so that way you guys can open back up the portal and we can get back home."

"Well, the earliest we can go is Thursday because we got about most of our new equipment but we need at least three more. It's gonna take a while to make." The man said.

"Okay," I said, "thank you. Bye." Good thing today's Tuesday. Two more days won't hurt a bit, hopefully for J.D.

"What did they say?" J.D. asked almost desperately.

"They said that the earliest they could come is Thursday which is two more days." I responded.

"Oh." J.D. mumbled.

"Well did you really think that they'll come back and open the portal right this second?"

"Yes."

I sighed and shook my head. "Well at least it was easy. I thought it'll be hard because they're in the middle of their vacation." I said while making air quotes.

"Where even is their vacation that evolves getting new equipment?" Dwayne asked.

"Maybe a museum?" J.D. asked.

We all shrugged. I looked out the window and saw cars drive up and down the streets, it sort of reminded me of the cars that drove up and down the streets back in Maryland.

"Hey do you guys wanna go out and explore this town?" I asked.

"Sure. I would love to get out of the house for a while." Dwayne said in agreement.

"Hopefully it'll take my mind off the ghost that haunts this place." J.D. said.

"Oh my gosh, Jay!" Dwayne and I yelled while we went downstairs.
