"Andrea Jones" I stand unsurely before taking my shaky steps towards the sorting hat. I was given a fake last name for my safety, the minister of magic having been adamant to give me a proper education. Saying that she would not let a name that had been forced upon me change that. I take a seat on the stool, giving the first year at the front of the queue a smile, sure I looked strange, a fifteen year old sitting on a small stool. 'Strange' I hear the weathered voice of the hat echo in my head A Lestrange. But you have a heart filled with hope, your mind a place of wit and bravery. Ambition like no other. I sorted your mother, Bellatrix Black before she was Lestrange. Do you wish to follow her legacy? Slytherin?' My eyes widen as I shake my head, "No" I mutter firmly."Yes, I see, you wish to get away from a dark past. Such a good heart owned by a child from such a twisted family. I see bravery too with the passion for what you believe. Loyal and ambitious like your mother, but an urge to do what's right. Courage, nerve, and strength...' . The hat goes silent before bellowing out; "Gryffindor!" I feel a smile bloom across my face, jumping to my feet I cheer along with the other Gryffindors rushing down and taking a seat. I turn to a brown-haired girl beside me. looking around the hall and my eyes land on a pair of vibrant green ones, right next to me on the Hufflepuff table. The boy gives me a cheeky grin as I look at him startled before smiling rolling my eyes. "Hi!" I heard a perky voice next to me. I turned to the girl beside me. "My names Kailee! You must be new, I'll give you a word of warning, you're going to be here for a while. The sorting is so fuck-"
"Language" A stern voice cuts in her tone sharp but a light trace of amusement gives herself away. "-cking boring," Kailee continues before grinning at the light-haired girl, "Evening Steph didn't see you there" She smirked as the Ravenclaw plopped in the seat next to me rolling her eyes. She looked at me "Names Stephanie you can call me Steph, nice to meet you. Sorry bout Kailee she's a bit vulgar." Kailee snorted as Stephanie grinned. "Andrea, nice to meet you." I smiled at her trying not to laugh. "So, you're new then?" Kailee questioned and I smirked. "Yes, how observant of you" I smiled raising an eyebrow as the two snorted before I continue. "But yeah, I am. I was homeschooled but decided to come to Hogwarts for the fifth year." I lie, reasoning that surely hours studying books and practicing in my room could count as homeschooling. I grinned as I looked at the two of them bickering teasingly, I actually felt normal for once.
