Wounded-
I explained to my mom how we’d burn the metal of the window. We calculated the exact time we had left, how long it’d take to burn the metal, get to the other room, and finally escape. It was a sharp and risky plan, but with our werewolf strength keeping us together, I think we’d be able to pull it off.
We rested for the night. The next day would be our ‘escaping’ day. The time calculated perfectly. Everything fit into each other.
The men came in, gave us our food and left. After I heard the footsteps descending, I took the chance for rest and lay on my bed, rethinking my plan and drilling it into my brain. I drifted off into a restless sleep, and when I awoke, Ben was stroking my hair affectionately. I had to stop myself from barfing before I forced a smile on my lips that never reached my eyes. “Today’s the day.” He said grinning wickedly.
I winced and rubbed my eyes from sleep.
“What day?” I said playing the role of the clueless ‘girlfriend’. Every time I did this, Ben would get happy and hit me less. It felt sickening but I bore with it. I’d be escaping in a few hours anyway.
“The day your mom will be gone and you’ll be all mine, silly.” He said, pressing kisses on my neck, working his way up to my lips. Before he could go any further, his phone rang. I cheered in the inside while Ben groaned. “What?” he snapped into the phone.
His face became, I don’t know, less harsh and- ugly. “I’ll be back in a few hours, love.” He grinned before walking off sloppily, slamming the door behind him. I heard the door lock and I instantly shot up. I waited for the food to come, ate it quickly and packed some for later. We’d need it. How knows how long we’d be running, or even hiding?
I tied my hair into a high ponytail so my hair wouldn’t get in the way. I looked for clothing to keep me warm from the cold weather, and once I was done, I used mind-link with my mom.
After that, I finally got out the torch and lighter from under my bed, where I hid them. It took a few moments to get it on fire because of my nervousness and unsteady hands. I cautiously made my way over to the window, taking extra care. This plan couldn’t fail. I started to melt the metal, one bar to the other.
It took longer than expected and my palms started to sweat. My hands trembled and my heartbeat quickened.
Losing time, losing time. Every second is precious.
My heartbeat raced as I heard voices booming from outside my door. The voices were becoming more loud and clear as they approached my door. I saw my door knob turning, just half way, but there was just a little bit more metal to burn.
The bar was half done when the door knob fully turned, but it didn’t open just yet.
It’s now or never.
Now or never.
I heard Ben’s cold, disgusting voice talking.
I looked back, and started to wrap my hand in cloth before smashing the glass window that the melted bars covered before, when they were a solid.
Ben immediately shot in the room, looking around. This bought a few seconds. Instinctively, I slipped my legs out of the window and started climbing on the ledge on the outside of the large house. The cold air chilled me to my bones, but I ignored it. I looked down and saw I was a floor above the ground. My grip tightened on the uneven bricks on the wall as I stepped carefully sideways, to my mom’s window that was in her room.
