Everything’s Okay-

I quietly approached my room. Opening the door, I spotted Jen sleeping. Her soft snores filled the room. I smiled at her. She lit my heart up whenever I was in the worse mood.

I stripped down to my boxers and quickly climbed into bed. Jen was still shivering with two thick blankets on her. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her close. I wasn’t ever going to let go of her.

Her skin was hot compared to mine. Worriedly, I checked her forehead with the back of my hand. She was burning up with a high fever.

After debating with myself whether I should go to sleep or not for minutes, I finally closed my eyes to go to sleep, still worried about Jen.

After a few minutes of closing my eyes, I fell into a light sleep.

Jenna’s P.O.V

My eyes slowly opened. I felt drowsy.

I looked around my surroundings. It was still dark. I panicked. Had Ben captured me?

My tears were on the edge of spilling, but I held them in. If I awoke Ben when I was crying, I’d surely earn a very hard beating. I looked around the room and noticed the walls were a navy blue color.

The embrace towards my waist tightened... and it felt safe.

My eyes traveled from the hold onto my waist to the person that held me. I sighed in relief and let the tears spill; it was Zach.

I pushed myself closer to him. I was finally home. Away from Ben….But where was my mom?

Zach stirred in his sleep before his eyes fluttered open.

“Jen?” he said, his voice husky from sleep.

The tears kept falling and I couldn’t get myself to respond. “What’s wrong?” he asked now aware. He looked at me with a worried expression. “Does your arm hurt? Are you ok?” he asked quickly, examining my body.

“I’m ok.” I managed to say.

He pulled me into a warm, tight embrace.

“What’s wrong?” he murmured into my hair.

“I missed you so much.” I told him.

He chuckled.

“I missed you too.”

We talked a little more.  I sat in between Zach’s legs, his arms around my waist as I let my head rest on his chest. I listened to his heartbeat, loving the sound and never wanting to leave this position again.

“Where’s my mom?” I finally asked.

“She went to the hospital, she’ll be okay. Her injuries were just minor. We can visit her tomorrow.” He said.

After a few minutes, I spoke quietly.

“What happened to Ben?”

“He’s dead. He won’t ever hurt you.” He said as his grip on my tightened, but in a nice and comfortable way.

“Good.” I said my voice just below a whisper before I trailed off into a deep sleep.

I woke up to Zach’s arms secured around my waist. I laughed quietly as I looked at his peaceful face sleeping. He stayed up a few hours after I slept, just in case I wouldn’t get scared. He was probably really tired now.

I kissed his cheek lightly and his lips tugged into a small smile in his sleep.

Tiptoeing out of the room, I opened the door and gently closed it once I was out.
