I had a thought
A dangerous one
A thought that was new and battled the old.
The human race believes that we must remind ourselves of the past to save our futures.
And in that we forget the present.
We forget the ones we love
Who we hate
And replace them
With memories and daydreams
To live in the present we believe we do
But truly our minds and hearts are elsewhere
Such is the human race.
Even to our unbelievable dismay
We go on
To live our lives
Even if only to wish for a new one.
I had a dream
Where we could all be equal
Where fear was only a thought
Now that I'm aware
I've come to the conclusion
A most dangerous and horrific one
Life isn't for the human race
It's a trick
And the only way to escape
The only solace
The thing we fear more than life itself
Death.
So comes my thought
If we're alive
Why do we fear.
