WARNING: NOT EDITED***Nick's POV***
Landon blinked at me, his mouth forming a tiny 'o'. "I'm sorry?"
I couldn't wipe the smile off my face, my blood pumping with excitement. "Listen, I need a temporary bandmate to play the drums for my band and it would be kinda cool ...no, really cool if you could help us out." Landon opened his mouth to answered but I cut him off. "You'd be doing us a real solid man. I'd be totally indebted to you!" I flashed him a hopeful grin. I had no idea of what his response would be and I was nervous as hell. Our next gig was in a couple of days at this bar, our first real venue. I didn't know this guy from Adam but if he had even an ounce of talent on the drums...I wasn't far from begging. I needed this. The band did if we ever hoped to make it.
"Why are you asking me?" He said calmly looking at me. "How would you know if I was any good?"
"Well aren't you? You said you played and you wouldn't be in Mr. Anderson's class if you weren't any good." It was almost unheard of for Mr. Anderson to accept a junior in his advanced class for seniors so he had to have some talent. Right? Landon shrugged neither agreeing or disagreeing. He continued to stare at me silently and I struggled to keep my irritation at bay.
"Um...okay."
I stood up quickly and without thinking gathered him in my arms squeezing the life out of his slight body. He wheezed and I laughed. "All right! Really?! Awesome!" My ass was saved! I pulled away and Landon coughed while turning his face away so the faint flush to his cheeks might have been my imagination. Chuckling, I ran my fingers through my hair in relief. He shifted and headed back to his desk clearing his throat.
"So, the project--"
His bedroom door slammed open and a little kid with wild dark blond hair poked his head in the doorway grinning ear to ear. "Time for dinner in the mess hall Landy! And mom said you can bring your friend too!" He glanced at me shyly and giggled as he bounded down the stairs. Landon sighed and stood up. "Want some grub?"
My stomach growled from lack of food today and I rubbed it grinning. "Starved."
He nodded and we made our way downstairs and into the "mess hall". And it appeared to really be one. Around fifteen people crowded individual tables in the huge space while a buffet lined near the right side of room and I could see a kitchen in which the cooks were busy frying and working away. Damn, this place was huge!
Landon lead me to the line where I happily made a burger with the meat patties and condiments while getting a scoop of fries. We made our way to the table where his sister, that kid and his parents were sitting. They all looked up at me with curious eyes."Hey Nicky!" Amelia smirked as I sat down near her, Landon on my other side.
"Glad you could join us," the dark haired man muttered gruffly and his partner elbowed him. He glared at the light haired man but when he returned the look he sighed and grumpily took a bite of his burger.
"Thank you Mr. Wolfson, I--"
"Oh please just call him Galen. No need for formalities. I'm Jeremy by the way." He reintroduced himself for which I was grateful. "How is the project going?"
"Well--"
"It's going fine mom. Thanks." Landon interrupted and Jeremy raised a brow but smiled.
"Good." Jeremy began to eat, pausing briefly to wipe some sauce off the kid's face lovingly. "I'm glad you guys have made progress," he said around a mouthful of food.
"Ew, don't talk with your mouth full!" Galen chuckled in disgust. Amelia smiled at them and Landon lips gave a small tug.
"Shut the hell up asshat," Jeremy retaliated but smiled as well and leaned his head on Galen's shoulder. Galen placed a quick kiss on top of said head before wrapping an arm around Jeremy. I looked away suddenly feeling like I was intruding on an intimate moment between the two.
Looking at the twins curiously from the corner of my eye, they were both very similar and extremely different. Their build was practically the same as well as the shape of their face but of course their eye color and hair were the only thing that didn't match. Well, that and their personalities. Where Amelia was loud and boisterous, Landon was soft and calm. They were certainly an interesting pair to say the least. I tried not to moan as I consumed the food on my plate. Everything was delicious. After I ate my fill I glanced at the time on my phone then stood up. "Thanks for the meal but I gotta go. My dad will be expecting me." Landon began to stand but Amelia was faster.
"I'll walk you out," she offered and I shrugged.
"Cool. Thanks again," I looked at their parents who nodded although Galen gave me a look and glanced at his daughter. I understood his implications. Smiling nervously, I made my way to the door and Amelia followed close behind.
Once outside I shivered from the cold wishing I brought a jacket but I would just crank up the heat in my SUV and all would be well. "Well, have a good night Nick," Amelia murmured and kissed my cheek. "See you later." She ran back inside the manor and I took off in my car absently touching my cheek.
As I pulled up to my house I parked my baby in the driveway and held back a curse as I saw my dad's Station Wagon already crookedly in its usual spot. Growling low under my breath I made my way inside and tried not to see him sprawled on the couch with a beer dangling from his hand with five days worth of scruff scattered unevenly on his puffy cheeks. His bloodshot eyes met mine and he stood up dizzily pointing at me.
"Where the hell have you been LeAnn? I've been..." he hiccuped, "I've been waiting." He visibly adjusted his crotch and started toward me with open arms. I quickly side stepped him.
"Dad, it's Nicholas," I said clearly in a tired voice. I looked like my mom and I guess it didn't help I kept my hair long but he confused us when he was like this. Hell, mom hadn't been around in two...maybe three years. Fuck the bitch. My dad had been a wreck when she left us and began binge drinking. On his good nights he was the dad I knew and loved. On his bad ones...
"Nicholas?" He squinted and grabbed the front of my shirt. "Where the hell have you been boy?!" He shook me and my teeth clattered I struggled to get out of his grip. "You think you're all big and bad you bastard don't ya?" My breath escaped me as he sent a blow to my gut. I grunted and pushed him away while running to my room. Dad followed after me but I slammed the door in his face and locked it. "Open this door! Now!"
I ignored him and collapsed on my bed pissed as fuck. I had to wait until he calmed down to go back out there and attempt to clean the mess that was undoubtedly waiting for me out there. He tire himself out soon I hope. This night was pretty good until this stupid shit. But at least my band would go on to play another day. My hands itched to actually play something on my guitar but it was too dark to go to my usual spot near the creek in my backyard. I pulled out my cell and texted quickly before sighing while pulling my hair out of its ponytail. It shouldn't be too long now.

My phone rang and my eyes snapped open as I rubbed my eyes and answered.
"Yeah?""I'm coming in. The key still under the mat?"
"Yeah..." I looked at the time. "My dad should be asleep."
"Drunk again?"
"Don't wanna talk about it. Hurry up."
About two minutes later there was a gentle knock on my door before it opened and I smirked. Rushing over I grabbed him by the waist and crushed my lips harshly against his. He laughed and helped me tug my shirt off before we stumbled on the bed. Clothes flew off, hands groped and soon he was begging in tiny whimpers. My head swam at how right this felt. No more pretending, no more shows...just him. A guy's hard body against mine. Total bliss.
It was even better when his nails scored my back as I finally slide into him.
