Just A Strange World

Chapter 1

Carmen's POV:

"Okay class, I hope you guys are safe over summer break and away from trouble." said Mr. Edwards, the history teacher. "Your summer break begins...NOW!" Everyone threw their papers in the air, like they do in those movies, very cliché. I laughed and walked out of the classroom towards by locker.

"Hey Carmen, busy tonight?" asked my best friend, Raquel.

"Not that I know of. Sleepover your place?" I said.

"Sure, see ya at eight."

"Okay. See ya then." I said closing my locker and walking out of the school building.

I walked outside and saw everyone standing around talking, when they could be at home relaxing. I walked to my car, when Anthony, the biggest jerk in school, walked over to me.

"Hey Carmen."

"What do you want, Anthony?" I asked, really not caring."

"I can't say hi to my friend, without me wanting something?"

"Okay, one I'm not your friend and two, no, you cant ."

"Anyways, a few of us are hanging out at Zach's house later tonight. Wanna come?"

"No, I don't wanna come because I know that 'hanging out' will lead to something more and I have plans tonight." I said.

"Well, that's your loss. Ya know, we are gonna have lots of fun tonight, but it's a shame that you won't be there."

"I guess it will. Good-bye Anthony." I said getting into my car.

I put my keys into the ignition and started the car. I put both of my hands at ten and two, just for safety.

"Ouch!" I felt a mild shock when I touched the wheel. I've been having that problem a lot lately, everything I touch something that's leather keeps shocking me. Weird?

10 minutes later

"I'm home!" I called out from the kitchen.

I heard loud thuds coming down the stairs and I knew it was my dad.

"Hi daddy." I said kissing his cheek .

"Hey sweetheart, how was school today?"

"Good, same as always."

"Well that's good, I guess."

"Yea, where's mom?"

"Oh, she got caught up at the office, and she won't be home in time for dinner."

"Again? That's like the third time this week."

"Yea, I know, but I'm still here."

"I can see that very clear, dad." I said sarcastically, going up to my room.

My mom was a therapist, so she wasn't home a lot. My dad, on the other hand, is a stay at home dad, most of the time. I have two little brothers, twins actually. Terrence and Charles, but to be only eight years old, they are very nerve racking.

I walked into my room and threw myself down on my bed. "Summer Vacation here I come!" I thought to myself. I'm hoping that this Summer vacation is better than last year.

Remember how I was talking to Anthony earlier? Well, last summer he got involved with Raquel. He basically led her on and then dumped her. I told her that he was bad news, but she never listens to me. I guess that you could say that Raquel is rebellious. She does the exact opposite of what you tell her to do. I just hope that she hasn't found out about Zach's party tonight.
