The 25th November, 115 AC started like any other day.
Yeves awoke to the familiar drone of his alarm and the familiar sight of his quarters. He got up from his normal bed (all be it a bit scruffier than it had been the previous night) and wandered like a lost ghost into the adjacent hallway.
It was long and thin with blinding lights singing inside every other roof panel. The snow white walls and the jet black floor made it look like there was forever a war raging between the two for dominance of the circular structure.
Every so often, a touch panel would stand proud, displaying the iconic symbol of the Genso Defence Unit like a medal won for its valiant efforts in a war. The doors sliced into the usual cylinder shape of the walls like currents in a cake ; possessing no pattern in their placement. All of this had become familiar to Yeves. For the last 13 years, this had become his home.
He was a Gensine ; a fox born with natural technological wings. He bore white stripes dotted across his golden fur. His tail bore most of the stripes ; giving the impression of sharp, vicious teeth protecting his back from any threats un-pronounced to him.
Yeves approached a touch panel and lightly tapped the dark blue symbol with a saddened sigh.
The last 13 years. The years of which he didn't speak. Only excuses of lost memory did people receive.
These excuses could not be further from the truth. Those previous 13 years were etched into his memory like a scar ; a permanent reminder of past events. Events that were never to be changed.
Nevertheless, these events burned themselves onto his mind like a branding iron ; distinguishing a criminal from a civilian. A publicly viewed mark on his life.As he touched the ice cold logo, the panel made the same droning noise that it had always done.
"Morning Yeves." Came the voice of his only shipmate ; Katt UinaShe was a warrior that fought for the planet in its early days, saved from an eternal hell by experimental Genso technology. She continued to serve in the Tatakaian army until the GDU was formed. From then on, she served mainly as an informer (or as Yeves liked to say, the midget in his ear ; despite the fact that she was just as tall as he), but never gave up the opportunity to jump first hand into a battle. Her technology gave her the ability to control electricity, making her the only non Genso able to do so and providing her with a party trick to be used out on the battlefield.
She had lost her family to Orphous in the Battle for Tatakai and she had been determined for revenge. This, she failed to retrieve during the Nenrei War.
Her voice was augmented, but it was still just as soothing as her original voice."Morning Katt" Yeves replied groggily, rustling his bed hair into some sort of shape before he presented himself to his only shipmate.
"Has anything happened since last night?"
There was a slight delay before he received a response. He filled this delay by rubbing his eyes and shooting a glance down the corridor to each end (a pointless habit he repeated every single time he used a panel.)
"There has been no change to planet Alpha 2-7. The ma.."
Yeves cut her off with a sharp mention of her name.
"Katt! I thought that we agreed not to call the planet Alpha 2-7. It sounds like you're letting your robot side take over."
There was another brief pause.
"There has been no change to the planet Concentuous. The magnetic storm has cleared and the surface temperature is dropping to an inhabitable level."
Yeves paused for a yawn ; that was so well timed that you would of though that he was indicating his interest on the subject to Katt ; and then continued.
"Can we land there now?" Yeves questioned
"There may still be some lingering magnetic interference that could damage the G-25*. I recommend waiting for another few hours. "
"Ok" Yeves replied, "Keep me informed. We will attempt a landing later. Around 1:15 PM LST.* "
With this, he moved away from the panel and continued down the corridor towards the bridge.
