Recap:
'Oh Mason is not going to like this'
~~~~~~~~~~
POV: 3rd Person
Nathan slowly peeled his eyes open. A soft ray of light strayed across his face. Groaning, he rolled over and pulled the soft covers above his head. He laid in silence for a few moments, enjoying the warmth and comfort of the sheets. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open.
'Where the heck am I?'
Slowly, Nathan turned over to observe the room. The walls were a dark grey, a large tv hung from the wall directly across from him. In the corner of the room was a desk, covered in papers with a laptop resting in the middle. To his right was a nightstand with a lamp and various remotes. Overall, the room was huge.
'As nice as this is, I need to leave'
Nathan threw the covers off of himself. A cold rush of air hit his body, causing him to shiver slightly and reach for the blankets once again.
'No, you need to leave. Now.'
With that, he dropped his hand and began to push off of the bed. Just as he began to step down, he heard loud footsteps outside of the door. In a state of panic, he quickly jumped off the bed, so that he could find a place to hide.
However, as soon as his feet hit the cold wooden floor, a searing pain spread throughout his body. He fell to the floor with a yelp, and began to grit his teeth in agony.
The door slammed open and a tall women walked through. She had long dark hair and tan skin. She looked like she was Italian.
"Nice to see that you're awake kid" she said in an amused tone.
Nathan stayed quiet as she began to approach him. She reached her hand out towards him, but he only shuffled away. Rolling her eyes, she moved closer and picked him up. She began to carry him towards the door.
'Who are you? Where am I? What's happening?'
Thoughts ran through Nathan's head, but his mouth couldn't form the words. Instead, he laid in her arms and allowed her to take him only God knows-where.
The woman led him down two flights of stairs, before dropping him off in what appeared to be the kitchen.
'Why is everything in this house so nice?' Nathan couldn't help but think as he marveled at the design.
"Alright, so the others will get home at about 5:00, and it's 3:00 right now. So, that give you 2 hours to ask me as many questions as you would like and get a shower" the woman said while grabbing two glasses of water. She placed one in front of him, before taking a sip of her own.
"...Who are you?" Nathan asked timidly
"Scarlett Clark. I saved your ass from those guys in that alley"
Nathan's eyes widened and a soft blush ran across his cheeks.
"T-thank you" he stuttered out
"No prob kid. So, why were you in that alley?" She squinted her eyes slightly, as if she was trying to read him.
Nathan looked down. Images of the past flooded his mind. All of the yelling. The gunfire. His parent's screams. The blood. His sister's lifeless body. The endless amount of foster homes.....it was all too much.
Nathan's body began to violently shake. He gasped for air, but it never reached his lungs. His hands clutched the edges of the counter, turning his knuckles white. He closed his eyes tightly as tears began to flow from his eyes.
Suddenly, a warm pair of arms wrapped around his body. At first he fought them off, but he soon accepted the reassuring hold.
"Hey kid, it's okay. Shhh, it's okay. You don't have to tell me, alright? Can I at least know your name?" She asked softly
"N-Nathan B-Bl-Blue" He said with a sniffle.
"How old are you Nathan?"
"19"
This surprised Scarlett. He looked like he was much younger than that. She stared down at his small form This is going to be harder than I thought'
"What are you going to do to me?" Nathan asked, his large blue eyes stared up at her. Tears still rimmed the corners of them.
"I'm going to take care of you. At least until you can take care of yourself. I'm not going to lie, or keep any secrets from you. I'm apart of a gang. There are 26 of us, but you'll probably only meet 6 or 7, including myself. Obviously if you'll be staying with us, then you'll have to meet our leader. We are called the "Shadows". I'm only making you stay until you are healthy and can support yourself. If the idea of living with a gang doesn't appeal to you, then sorry kid. I'm not letting you go"
Nathan sat in silence, trying to process all that she had said. It was obvious he wasn't going to be able to leave, no matter how much he begged. He slowly nodded his head, but he still couldn't believe he was actually allowing this to happen. He looked up at Scarlett, only to find she was already staring down at him.
"Can I take a shower now?"
