A Debt to a Vampire

My Night Out

"Catharine!" someone called my name from behind.

I turn around to see my friend Caleb running up to me. He was only a kid of 13 years old. He hung out around the crowd I do because he hates the vampires just as much as we do. However, because he is only a kid we use him for a messanger boy then anything.

"How are you Caleb?" I ask him when he finally gets to me.

"I've been running all morning. Ray wants to see you, Marry, Derik, Mark, and Tori immediatly. He says its important." He explains breathlessly.

"Have you gotten everyone else?"

"Yes. You were very hard to find Catharine."

I laugh at the frustrated look he gives me. His cute baby face staring back at me trying to be tough. His blue puppy eyes looking at me like he was about to cry. The light blond hair sticking to his neck and forehead.

"What are you laughing at missy?" He says in a pouty voice

"Your so cute when your mad." I finsh laughing, "Take me to Ray then Caleb."

As we walk down the mansion halls I wonder what Ray could possibly want with us. Last night was suppose too be another stake out at the vampires sleeping quarters a few miles away. Perhaps one over us got caught. It wouldn't suprise me if they now guarded the vampire mansion. They should be expecting us to investigate our captures. They did take over our lives without any warning.

When we finally got to Ray's room everyone was already there. When Tori saw me she quickly waved me over to sit next to her. Tori was a nice girl. She was a short latino girl with long brown hair and dark brown eyes. She was very polite to everyone and usually hated violence. She joined us about two years ago when her brother was killed for breaking the rules a third time. Tori wasn't one of our fighters though. Instead we use her for her intelegance to investigate theories to why us humans were trapped here.

"Do you know why we're here?" I ask as I sit down.

"No. We were all called here without any information."

When she finished talking someone walked through the door. He was tall, tan, short brown hair, and green eyes. He was slightly buff around the shoulders and chest area. Every girl in our group was attracted to him. Even I was attracted to him, but I was attracted to how great of a leader he was. I respected him.

"Good afternoon everyone I have some great news." Ray said standing in front of everyone. "During last nights stake out we finally got to the east wing where the leader of the vampires was said to live. I need all of you to go again tonight."

"Wait why tonight?" I ask before anyone else.

"Tonight the leader is suppose too leave for the night on business."

After Ray explained all the details for the stake out he got a grim look on his face. This only meant one thing... Someone else was abducted.

"Now I realize we're all pumped at finding the east wing, but I also have to update you on another matter."

As he spoke the whole room went quiet. Their faces grew sad and pained. For everyone fears the danger that was lurking in the halls while everyone slept.

"Two people were taken last night as well. They were brother and sister. Amy and Jason. Middle schoolers. They left for the bathroom out in the hall a little after seven and never came back." He said in a hollow voice.

"It was those bloody vampires!" Derik yelled as he slamed his fist on the table.

"The vampires haven't broken a rule yet. It wasn't seven thirty yet and neither of them have gotten in trouble before." Ray exclaimed.
