*Leon's Perspective*

----------

Once I left Catharine alone in the bed room I made my way down the long corridor down the grand stairway into the front room where the front door to my mansion was. My guards stood in a large crowd surrounding someone. He was so short I could hardly see him. I could only make out blond hair on the top of his head.

"What is all this about?" I ask. My voice loud and threatening throughout the room causing my guards to disperse.

Now I could see him fully. Tiny boyish body with baby skin. Sweet kitten eyes that were full of fear and determination. He couldn't have been more then 12 years old.

"What's a child doing here?" I ask my messenger whose standing beside me.

"He is here for the women you've been questioning. Said he wasn't leaving without her."

"A brave young man I see."

Though I was giving the man props for coming all this way without the slightest bit of strength to him I couldn't give him Catharine. She still hasn't answered any of my questions. I turn my attention to the boy standing in the middle of a bunch of vampires. His arms and legs vibrated with fear as his eyes stared at each of my guards with distaste and hatred. Truly, humans were something else. So ignorant to the dangers I am protecting them from. But I suppose when you tell them nothing of the monsters hunting them their anger is sure to fall on us.

"Speech now boy. I wish to know why you've come for myself. My people tell me you're here on a rescue mission. However that couldn't be right. You are alone, and so young. I'm afraid they much be making up wild stories." I call out to the frightened man.

His eyes landing on mine. He straightened his composure and looked at me satisfied. He almost looked unafraid, but there was still a slight crack when he spoke.

"I am to assume you're the leader of this mansion?" He asked not breaking eye contact.

Oh this was just to perfect. He can even talk the part of a brave man. It took everything I had not to laugh.

"You'd assume correct. And what can I do for you?"

"Simple. I ask you hand over Catharine. She is a human therefore no use to you. However to me and my kind she is very important as there are people who care for you. This may be confusing for you vampires, but emotion is key in our lives."

"I see. The only problem is that I can't give her away if she's already gone." I spoke a lie to the boy.

"What?" He asked, his eyes wide.

He looked as though he was about to unravel. The boy's composure shook while he processed my words over and over again.

"True. Just a few hours ago she tried to escape and succeeded. None of my guards even remember if they seen her."

"If it truly had been hours ago then I would have seen her on the way here. Don't lie!" He yelled with furry and confusion as he tried to deduce where she was.

My patience began to get thin. Why are humans so insightful? In fact why couldn't they just stay in the damned mansion I gave them to protect them? Why do they need to rebel? Have I done anything wrong to them? I gave them a safe roof, food, schooling, and simple rules to follow. Even their guards have rules not to harm them. If anything I had been very civil with them. Yet they still do this? Question me? Break the rules?

"When she arrived she was in a panic and feared strange creatures with blue eyes. Surely she must have taken a different path." My voice this time wasn't amused. My temper showing through. "She was determined to leave. The shelter I provided her wasn't good enough so why would I keep her here?"
