falling through the dark

I'm falling through the dark.
I reach out and feel the air,
Ripping through my fingers.
Cold, dark, and scary.

Do my eyes deceive me?
Do I see faces screaming?

I cover my eyes.
But the silence of their screams,
It pierces my ears.

I look into the blackness
Angry eyes stare back
My stomach lurches

God help me
Save me from this nightmare

Memories play out before me
Sights I never want to see
Do I deserve this?

His voice rings in my ears
A silent shout no one hears

Useless, stupid, lazy
Fat, ugly, useless
Useless, useless, useless
*sigh*

The voice falls silent
Finally I can rest
The alarm buzzes
And the next day starts

I smile and hide the pain
But in the end I know
Tonight he will be back
And forever again
