I rubbed the back of my head, smiling sheepishly, watching the boys as they argued over the choices of clothing I had.

With me wearing a white, sleeveless dress that stopped at my ankles, I could breathe a little more. But there were flower designs at the chest area, which was a little revealing.

But on the other hand I could wear the white undershirt and brown pants that were given to me before we arrived at Nick's house.

Thankfully, Nick gave me a third choice; to wear a hand-knitted shirt with long sleeves, a skirt of the same color, if not a shade darker, and ponytail to tie my hair up with. The skirt stopped between my ankles and knees.

When I found them still arguing about it, I simply rolled my eyes and grabbed my clothes, placing them in a drawstring bag aside wrapped food and a large mason jar filled with water. Nick also gave me a little medicine in a bottle to continue using just in case the symptoms came back.

I then whistled to get their attention. "Hey, we'll never make it out of here before daylight! Just give me the clothes, I'll wear both."

They turned to me to argue only to find I was wearing something entirely different.

I grinned at their faces and said, "When you're done arguing, we can go." I could overhear Nick snickering behind me.

They looked guilty before smiling at me. I took the outfits from them, placing them inside my bag before slinging it over my back. I then turned to Nick, grabbing both of his hands. "Thank you for taking us in as long as you did. I hope to try your soup again one day."

He grinned, giving my hands a light squeeze before pulling his hands away and nudging me. "Take care of those wolves. They'd be chasing their tails were it not for you."

Xain growled. "I resent that!"

Nick shrugged, looking like he didn't give a care in the world.

I gave Nick a light kiss on the cheek before turning towards the woods. A hand grabbed onto mine, locking fingers with me tightly. "Ready to go?" I shivered, Connor's words murmuring close to my ear. I giggled softly, nodding as I started walking. Xain said, "Be seeing you, Nick!"

"Watch yaselves now! Don't let the little girl get sick again, ya heard?!"

Xain chuckled, waving to him before grabbing my hand lightly, his fingertips caressing mine.

We walked for a good while with nothing but a chilly breeze and falling auburn leaves to accompany us.

It was quiet the whole time. There was nothing to talk about, nothing on my mind to bring up. That is, until I thought of their family. "Um, I have a question." Connor glanced at me and said flatly, "What is it?"

I smiled at him a bit before asking, "How many family members do you have?"

Xain said, "Ah, about seven members who we see as actual family. I think you'll enjoy their company. Maybe."
