"I'm home."
I walked to the front door to see my father taking his coat off. "Welcome home," I said to him and gave him a big hug after he hung his coat in the closet. He gave me a big squeeze. "How was ice skating?" he asked me as we walked into the kitchen.
"Why don't you ask mom?" I said to him.
He had a bit of a confused look on his face. I walked to the dinner table to place the utensils down while father walked to mother who was plating the finished meal. I walked to the kitchen and started to take food to the table.
Mother took her phone out and showed the clip to Father. {Wonder what he is going to think...} Once done, I sat at the table and waited patiently for them. I could see my father's eyes almost popping out of his head.
{And.... he has seen everything.}
Mother put her phone away. "Go wash up dear. Dinner is ready," she told him and took a pitcher of water with her to the table. "Dad looked very surprised," I said to her. She gave me a smile. "It is shocking to see Katerina," she said to me as she poured water in the cups.
I nodded in agreement.
Soon, father came to the table and looked at me and my mother. "I'm convinced. You are able to skate well," he said to me. "Yes, dad," I said to him as mother put food on my plate. Father looked at mother.
"You gave her permission to do the recital?" he asked her. Mother gave him a nod. "I'm convinced that she will do very well," she told him. He gave her a nod and plated food on his plate. I waited to hear what else he would say. I could feel the sweat in my palms.
{Please...say yes....}
After putting flood on his plate, he looked at me. I couldn't read his eyes. "I would have given her permission too," father said. I felt a wave of relief go through me. Happiness built up that I was couldn't help but to smile at the words.
I gave him a big smile. "Thank you," I said to him. He gave me a smile in return. "You are welcome. Now. Eat your dinner. You need to build your strength," he told me. I gave him a nod and started to eat my dinner.
{I can't wait for tomorrow.}

For the next week, I had been going to the ice rink to practice with Victor. We would spend about an hour trying to find music for the both of us to do for the recital. We had to pick music in a few days. Then, we would have to show the instructors the choreography. They would make the final decision afterward.
Christmas Eve....
"Happy Birthday!"
I was turning seven years old today. Mother and father walked into my room just as I woke up from sleeping. They brought me my breakfast in a tray. The tray had soup, homemade bread, some kasha, and juice.
{That looks good.}
"Are you planning on going to the rink today?" mother asked me as she set the tray in front of me. I gave her a nod. "I really want to practice my choreography," I told her and took my spoon. I really wanted to taste the soup.
