When I opened the entrance to the docks, I immediately realized that Fury was waiting for me, standing professionally on the edge of the water, straight and imperial-like with his entirely black suit and eyepatch.
I felt a pang of fright, but immediately regained control over myself, trying to keep a neural expression. I docked the boat, took all my time gathering my bag and putting it over my shoulder, and got out of the boat, with a 'I-don't-care' expression on my face. But as I walked up to him, I felt my heart tighten, and stress started surging in me. I had no idea what to do next; stop in front of him and wait for him to do something, or just walk right past him and continue my path towards our headquarters...?
I didn't have time to think on the question as I continued my path, looking straight in front of me, avoiding eye contact. I held my breath when I arrived at his level, and was surprised as I realized he didn't say anything. I thought I heard a faint sigh, but wasn't sure as he had stayed in place, not moving. I sped up, hurrying out of the place, and closed myself in the elevator.
I sighed of relief, and pressed on my level's button.
Wait. Fury isn't here...Maybe I should try getting in his office again... I heard a sigh behind me and I jumped, almost yelling of surprise.
But as I looked behind me, I was still all alone in the elevator... "Am I going nuts now...?"
"You're not going nuts stupid woman."
This time I screamed, as I clearly heard the voice again. "Who- Who's there?" I asked.
"Huh...Who do you think it is?" I heard a faint chuckle and obvious nagging in his voice.
"The-The Norse Dude?"
I heard a grunt, before the male voice responded: "Don't call me like that you fool. I'm a god. G-O-D!"
"Right...Loki...How the heck are you talking to me?"
"Did you forget I could talk through minds? I can also project my image, but I thought it would be best not to startle you, your reactions are pretty...unpredictable."
This time, I grunted, annoyed that I had been scared by the likes of him.
"Well you're in a good mood" I murmured, under my breath.
"I'm the trickster god. Had you forgotten? That's what I do for a living." I could sense him smiling his usual teasing and annoying smile, even if I couldn't see him.
"Anyways, why are you wasting your time on me?"
"Well, you can get pretty bored in here...I just wanted to talk to someone..."
I laughed, "Yeah right, and you want me to come visit you in your cell, is that it?"
"That would be nice..."
I stopped my sarcastic laugh and said in a serious voice, "In your dreams, crazy."
I looked at the levels on the elevator buttons, strangely it felt like the time was going too slowly...I should have already been off by now.
"Let's take care of the serious business now." He suddenly said.
I shivered, "Corridor 24Q, Cell 57V?"
"I knew you heard it. Have you figured out who's in it?"
"No. Was I supposed to?"
He laughed, "Don't play that game with me, I know you've been working on it."
I gulped, "Well...yeah...I was just curious, but I don't care anymore."
"Really? I can swear I felt like you were just scheming another one of your ridiculous plans to get into your boss's office." He said mockingly. He was testing my patience, and was enjoying the fact that he knew every one of my thoughts.
I sighed, "Well? Is it worth putting my time into?"
He chuckled, yet again, "Oh...trust me, you'll need it."
I hesitated, "And why should I trust you?"
He sighed, "As you wish...too bad though...It might be crucial information..."
I could feel his presence slowly fading away, and I was angry to have fallen for his trap.
"WAIT!"
"Hm?" He inquired, coming back in my head.
"What is it? How can I get a hold of the information?"
He snickered. "Well...you should try the hard way. Going in as a thief is something almost impossible to do..."
"Almost?" I asked, raising an eye brow.
"Well, apart from me that is."
I sighed, "Urg, mister Almighty here...Why don't you do it?"
He laughed, "Have you forgotten I'm trapped in here?"
I shrugged, and looked at the levels again. "When am I getting off of this thing!"
"Not until we finish to figure this out. You've been pretty slow. I thought you were stronger than this."
"Oh shut it. So? What's your "hard way"?"
He appeared in front of me, and leaned on the wall across from where I was standing, his arms crossed across his chest.
I gulped, feeling more threatened now that his long and slick imperial like figure was towering above me.
"He's not really in front of me. I have nothing to fear." I told myself.
"You're more pitiful than I thought" he suddenly said, judging me with his cold look.
"Humph. Get going." I said, trying to look at him in the eyes.
"You'll have to attack Fury."
I froze. "EH?!"
He replied, calmly, "You'll tell him you have to talk to him, he'll take you to his office, and then you put him out. Simple."
I stayed silent, thinking about what he was telling me.
"Get ahold of a taser or a tranquilizer gun. Something that could stun him temporarily."
I raised an eyebrow.
"Well, since you don't want to kill him..." He said in a sad voice, "That's too bad...it would make things easier..."
"That is completely out of the question!" I yelled at him, "He's the closest thing I've ever had to family!"
Loki laughed, "Family?! Him?!"
"Oh well, you wouldn't understand, right?!" I yelled in his face.
His gaze became even colder and his smile immediately went away from his face.
"Do not talk family in front of me." He hissed unpleasantly.
I realized I had hit a sensible point. "Well, that's a good thing to know..."
"So," he continued, "you'll do as I said, and once you've stunned him, you'll look for the prison and criminal records. Remember to take your gun, you'll may want to use it." He squinted his eyes, saying the last sentence, then disappeared.
"HEY!" I shouted, "COME BACK! LOKI! NORSE DUDE!" I yelled, but it was just me in the elevator again.
I sighed and I heard the bell announcing I had arrived at my place ring shortly.
"Well, looks like I'll have to do just that." I smiled, not really knowing why, as a big rush of adrenaline surged through me.
