I woke up to find Rick almost out of the door.
"Where you going?" I asked getting up from bed.
"Oh hey Y/N. I gotta go see Bird Person." He replied.
"Oo can I come? Pleeeaaaaeeee." I begged to Rick.
"Why do you want to come? Besides, we're just going to do work." Rick said.
"Well, I wanna get to know Bird Person better and I don't mind. I can watch you guys and maybe even help." I said.
Rick laughed. "You? Help? Ha! Leave it to the real scientist here sweetie. Anyways, get dressed."
I was happy he was letting me go with him but angry that he didn't think I was smart. Maybe I wasn't as good as him but I was still pretty smart. I wanted to prove myself. I got out of bed and fixed myself up finding something to wear. I decided a grey t-shirt, some jeans and a jean jacket would just be fine. I braided my hair into two just for the sake of it being out of my way. I looked myself over and was ready to go.
I walked downstairs and was greeted my the Smith family.
"Hey everyone." I said.
"Hey Y/N" They all said back.
"You want something to eat?" Beth asked but before I could answer I was pulled into the garage.
"Hey!" I yelled at Rick.
"Get in." He said. I sighed and got into the spaceship.
"So where does Bird Person live?" I asked curious about him.
"Some far off other dimension of bird people." He replied.
"Cool. How long have you known him?" I asked.
"I've know him for about.. forever. We've been through so much shit together, he's my best friend." He replied.
"Aww." I replied. Rick rolled his eyes at my 'aw'.
"I've never really had a best friend. I thought I did but it didn't end well..." I sighed remembering her and the moment everything fell apart. I missed her but she hurt me, it was unfixable.
"Don't worry. I'm your best friend." Rick said.
"Wow I have the best best friend ever!" I said sarcastically.
"Okay we're here." Rick landed the ship in front of a house.
We both got out of the car and walked up to the front. Rick didn't even knock and walked straight inside. Well, they are best friends I guess.
"Heyyyyy BP!!!" Rick greeted Bird Person.
"Hey Rick." Bird Person said.
"This is Y/N she wanted to come."
"Hi." I said.
"Hello." Bird Person said, "We've met before. At the party?"
"Yeah." I smiled. Bird Person smiled too. Suddenly I heard a female voice yell.
"I'm downstairs Tammy." Bird Person said to the voice. I've heard that name before. Suddenly a girl came down the stairs and I recognized her. It was Summer's friend who I walked in on with Bird Person at the Party.
"You two are together?" I asked a bit more shocked than intended.
"Engaged now. Our wedding is soon." Bird Person said holding Tammy's hand.
My eyes grew wide. How could an amazing person like Bird Person end up with some girl like that. And how in the world did this happen this fast. The party was just two days ago!
"Tammy. We're going to be in the garage doing some work." Bird Person explained.
"Okay." Tammy said and flipped the T.V on. Bird Person, Rick and I walked into the garage.
"Alright. So what are we doing?" I asked getting ready to take whatever they bring on me.
Bird Person looked confusingly at Rick and Rick just laughed.
"Hey you said I could help!" I yelled to Rick.
Rick zapped a portal under my feet.
"You son of a -" I said to Rick but fell through the portal before I could finish. I fell into Ricks garage.
Oh he did not just do that. I'm gonna show that mother fucker that I can be better than him. And the rage was building up inside me. I got off of the floor and looked around Ricks garage. I found a box of random things and pulled it out carrying it to the desk. I knew what I wanted to build and I knew it was going to be impossible but I had to try. I grabbed the things I thought I needed and got to work.
Over 5 hours later I finally finished. I held the device in my hand. It was just like his but instead of green, it was blue. I shot it and it worked. The blue portal was just like his. I jumped up and down in excitement. I made the impossible. I smile came onto. Now I can show him whose smart.
I opened up a portal and stepped through. It lead me where I wanted to go — to Rick and BP.
Their heads turned towards me. For a second they were confused and then Rick basically exploded. He stared at the blue portal in shock then he looked at me.
"What... the ... hell? How? When? What!" Rick was shocked. He stepped closer to portal and examined it. He stepped into it disappearing but came back.
"It works.." Rick said, "Where'd you get this Y/N?"
"I made it." I said confidently.
"That's not funny. Tell me where you found it!" He said.
"I made it Rick. Seriously." I replied.
"No way." He said.
"Yes way." I smiled.
He grabbed the portal gun from my hand and took out his own putting them together. They were identical but Ricks was green and mine was blue. I honestly don't know how mine turned out to be blue. He shot a portal from his gun and another beside his from mine. They were the same too.
"Do you know what you just did?"
"No..." I said a bit scared.
"You just created the most impossible thing to create. I created mine a long time ago and with help and it took years! I can barely make it again. But you did it by yourself." He said and looked at me differently.
"So... I'm smart?"
"This is amazing. Now I have a second portal gun." Rick said.
"No you don't that's mine." I said grabbing it from Rick.
"You don't understand how much trouble you'll get into with it. It's better with me." Rick said.
"No Rick. I made it this is mine." I said sternly. I wasn't about to give up my greatest project.
"Y/N. You can use mine. We need to put this one somewhere else." Rick argued.
"No Rick. You can't do that. I made this myself, go get your own." I said before shooting a portal and walking through. I ended up at some weird part of an city filled with sluggish aliens. I walked around and thought to myself.
I proved myself smart... A little too well but he couldn't take my invention from me. I created this myself. Of course I could get into some trouble but he should trust me.
I sighed. What else do I have to do to prove myself?
