At the Wayne Manor, the afternoon was quiet and sorrowful. Taryn laid in front of the old grandfather clock that sat in the sitting room near the front entrance of the mansion. Alfred had got her in a white dress with a collar and skirt that ended just above her knees. He had been cleaning the large home all day while constantly checking on the blonde child.
She stayed there for hours, all day until six PM. At that time Alfred walked in with a tray and a large blanket. "Young Taryn, would you like a cup of hot chocolate and a blanket?" He asked politely to the scared girl. She only turned to look at Alfred with her tear filled eyes, then she nodded slowly. Her small body walked over to Alfred who was sitting upon the velvet couch with a cup and blanket. Taryn cuddled up to the old butler who put an arm around her.
Taryn drank all the hot chocolate and feel asleep on Alfred. "I'm so sorry Taryn", he whispered "Children should not have to grow up without their parents around." They both fell asleep on the couch in front of a warm fireplace.
The next morning they both woke up and went through the morning routine. After Taryn was dressed in a lavender blouse and navy blue skirt, the door bell rang. She ran to the front door with Alfred walking behind her. Taryn opened the door and she saw a frowning woman with brown eyes and brunette hair. "Hello Miss Dawes, come inside" Alfred said after pulling Taryn out of the way.
They all sat in the sitting room, the room still was full of sorrow. "I should tell both of you that Bruce was arrested the other day." Rachel spoke her voice lowered as she continued, "He shot his parents murderer." Taryn cried for ten minutes after. Alfred was going to comfort her, but Rachel beat him to it. She hugged the child to comfort her. Taryn breathed normally after several minutes. "Your dad told me about you Taryn, he said you were happy and beautiful!" Rachel said with a warm smile. Taryn smiled back, but she was still scared.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The weeks pasted slowly in the manor, Rachel dropped by multiple times to try and cheer up Taryn. It never worked. Alfred would always comfort her when she feared of her father. Bruce was the little girls ray of sunshine, as she was his. Taryn had tear stains on her face daily. Her bright spirit turned into sorrow.
"Mistress Taryn, I think you should go out in the yard and get fresh air. You have been in the mansion for many weeks." Alfred told her after several weeks since Bruce was put in prison. The girl put on her brown shoes with a collared black dress and ran from her room to the front door. She went outside and sighed.
The blonde haired girl first went to pick flowers and place them in her hair. Afterwards she began to giggle and skip around the land of which the manor sat. She found the Wayne family cemetery. Their she found the graves of her dead grandparents. Her feet stopped in front of the two burials, then she continued to skip and spin with her large smile.
After a few minutes she was in the fenced off back garden. Their she fell into a open hole in the ground. She screamed out in fear when bat's that lived inside the hole flew out. Alfred luckily heard her and got the child out quickly. "Your father fell in that same hole when he was around your age." He told her as she shivered in his arms.
He cleaned her small scrapes and cuts from the fall as she laid in her bed. "I miss my daddy Alfred...When will he come home?" Taryn asked weakly, but still sweetly. Alfred only hugged her for he did not have a answer this time.
Years would pass by with sadness and slowness in the Wayne Manor. Alfred home schooled Taryn for that is what Bruce would have wanted for her. The year she turned eight her life would change completely. Someone important would finally come back into her life.
A/N: Hello reader, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and are excited to see what is next. I decided to keep Taryn a younger child because I believe it will lead to a different relationship with Bruce Wayne. Leave a vote or comment. One more thing, I plan on posting every other day at the least.
