"You've been pouring over that tome for hours," Gregory says softly as he leans over Elspeth's shoulder. "Love, please take a break."

"I can't," Elspeth shoos him away. "You're making me uncomfortable, standing over my shoulder like that." Elspeth quickly turns the page and cuts her finger.

"Fuck," she cries out. The wound heals fairly quickly, a scab forming within seconds.

"Love, please." Gregory run his fingers over her shoulders, raising goosebumps on her flesh. She leans her head back into his stomach.

"The more breaks I take, the longer itll take me to read this and the longer I'll be stuck like this." Elspeth sighs as Gregory presses a kiss to her forehead.

"You being in this form doesn't make me love you any less," Gregory assures her.

"I know but what if, the longer I wait, the more irreversible this condition becomes?" Elspeth reluctantly lets Gregory lead her from her desk to her bed. He sits on the edge and allows her to put her head in his lap, running his fingers gently through her hair.

"I wish another person could help you read it," Gregory says. Elspeth bolts up, nearly knocking the back of her head into his chin.

"What?" She asks, surprise lighting up her face.

"I just wish I could see the words, then I could help you. I wish there were someone else to read it too so you could, I don't know, take turns."

"Gregory, you're so smart!" Elspeth smiles. He just gives her a questioning look.

"I'm not the only witch who can read it! Remember? There are other families with born witches. I'm sure one could help me, not just with reading it but with reversing this...whatever this screw up is." Elspeth throws her arms around him, her giggles making him smile and hold her even more tightly to him.

"Only..." Elspeth trails off and then smacks her palm to her forehead. "The closest family that I know of is halfway across the UK".

"So let's go then," Gregory says. "Let's get in the car and go."

"You're kidding right?" Elspeth looks up at him, he's gotten even taller since last year. She even notices a bit of stubble on his chin.

"Oh come on, we'll tell your parents that we're going to go on holiday together."

"No," Elspeth says firmly. "We're not hiding things from my parents anymore. They got a bad enough surprise hearing I almost died and now I'm stuck like this."

"Yeah, imagine waking up and your daughter is a vampire."

"But that's the thing Gregory," Elspeth whispers. "I'm not a vampire. I'm something else entirely."

Gregory looks at her, an eyebrow raised, and waits for her to elaborate.

"What vampire do you know doesn't need blood nor is affected by sunlight?" Elspeth begins pacing. "There are others. And I'm going to find them."

Hey guys! I'm so sorry about how long I'm taking to update pretty much everything. I'm still dealing with some family issues and trying to juggle that with schoolwork. I've also been in a dispute with someone who is trying to take credit for "The Witch's Heart"  by changing Elspeth's name and using my story under a slightly different name and is ignoring my requests to take it down. So while I've been dealing with that it doesn't excuse how long I keep making you guys wait for updates. I'm sorry!!!
