Marcia was dusting the library's shelves and rearranging the books, the silence she once found comforting now made her uneasy, it kept reminding her of last night's incident. She scanned the bookshelf to see any mistakes and then went to the next bookshelf. She heard the doors open to see Wilford, "Do you need assistance with the windows?" He asked her, his face as expressive as a rock. 'Does he even have emotions??...'
"Yes I would like some help with the windows.", Marcia replied, looking at him for a brief moment and then went back to dusting. "Very well." Wilford then went to a door disguised with the same wallpaper as the rest of the library and took out a foldable ladder to place on the fragile and elegant windows. He went up the sturdy looking ladder he had place on the window and then proceeded to lightly dust the windows.
A few minutes of complete silence passed by, the two staff too deep in thought to break the silence, at least, for those few minutes. "If I may ask, what happened to the rest of the staff?", Wilford asked, his light grey eyes never taken off of the window. Marcia then explained,
"Ms. Malinda asked us to tell our alibis before and during the murder, we have found one suspect who is the chef. They are currently checking in the kitchen to find anything that could connect to the murder that happened the night before.."
Wilford hummed, then went into thought for while, before he spoke, "With all due respect to the young mistress, I personally believe that she may not be looking at this situation at all angles. Granted, it was her elder brother, however he was a vampire, the culprit wouldn't have any other choice if he didn't want to get bitten."Marcia hummed in understanding, as she turned to the platinum haired butler, she opened her mouth but was interrupted by the library doors opening "Ah there you two are! Ms. Madeline requested all the staff to the kitchen.", the dairy maid, who accompanied Madeline to the kitchen, smiled and stated.
The staff soon gathered in the large kitchen, with spotless white tiles both on the walls and floor it made the open brown door in the back look very out of place. They could see the other staff gathered next to the door, surrounding a tied up and screaming Sanford.
As curiosity got the best of her, Marcia sneaked past the others into the dimly lit room to only find something that made her speechless, what had looked like to be once used as a storage room, was turned into a strange cult-like room. Many papers were scattered about, she couldn't read the words on it but they all had grotesque bat drawings drawn on them. However, what made her feel weak in the knees, was the strange symbol drawn on the ground with various bat corpses lying around who were drenched in blood. Before she could stare at the grotesque scene in front of her any longer, A loud shout snapped her out of her gaze.
"HEY GET AWAY FROM THAT YOU WRENCHED MAID!", that gruff voice belonged to none other than that insane cook, Sanford. Judith, Marcia's good friend and one of the parlour maids, hurriedly pulled her out of the room, "Oh Marcia you shouldn't have gone in there!" She said frantically and rushed Marcia out of the room to calm her down.
It had taken her a few minutes for the raven haired maid to calm down, drying her eyes on the sleeve of dress, she turned to Judith to thank her. Judith replied with, "Oh it's nothing at all! For a second there I thought you were going to faint with how pale you looked!"Marcia chuckled lightly,
"Well I may have seeing how light headed I felt. But thank you again Judith, shall we go back inside?" The brunette smiled and nodded joyfully, "Yes we shall!" Before they could go back inside the kitchen, the maids saw Lady Jenet and Isabelle rushing towards them. Out of reflex, Marcia and Judith opened the kitchen's doors for the brown haired noble and her Lady's maid.
"Where's the culprit Malinda?!" Jenet said furious. Malinda replied, "The culprit is none other than the chef, Sanford Crimson." Sanford looked at Jenet with a wild look in his eyes, and laughed, "YES, I'M THE CULPRIT! BUT FOR A DIFFERENT REASON. I WAS THE ONE WHO TURNED THAT NOBLE BRAT INTO A VAMPIRE! BUT I DIDN'T KILL HIM, WHY WOULD WASTE ALL MY HARD WORK LIKE THAT? YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL, I DID THE RITUAL RIGHT IN THIS MANSION BECAUSE I THOUGHT YOU ALL WERE WORTHY AS SACRIFICES TO THE NEW KING OF THE VAMPIRE EMIPRE!!"
He then started cackling, and struggling against the ropes tied tightly around his limbs. Lady Jenet looked at him with eyes full of anger, sadness, and surprise. "Well then its settled then.", she turned to her butler, "Wilford, inform the police forces and my mother about the incident and arrange a meeting with the local priest tomorrow." Wilford nodded and bowed, "Yes, my lady."
Jenet then turned to the rest who were present in the room, "The rest of you put him into a room and refrain from entering there, after that you shall return to your normal duties.", she said before she put on a fake smile and exited the room.
Marcia looked at the scene in front of her one more time before exiting the room and started heading to the library. She however, did not notice the creature that was looking at her from a dark corner of the hallway.
