I always loved the darkness, the peaceful darkness that just makes you wanna go to sleep. If someone ever asked me 'are you afraid of the dark?' I would say 'no I'm not afraid of the dark, but I am afraid of what lies in the dark.' All the shadows that are concealed by the darkness waiting for you to make a wrong move. Haven't you seen all the stories on the news about kidnapping, killing at night, and many more that I shouldn't list. That scares me and that's why I'm afraid to go outside at night alone. When you live were I do all you see is woods around you and it's even scarier at night when you can't see what hides in the woods. So watch your back and always stay alert of your surroundings or else, something might happen to you.

I turn the the car off and slowly start to get out remembering to grab my backpack in the process. I throw my backpack on my right shoulder and start to walk to the front door quickly to get out of the cold fall breeze blowing on my face and nipping at the tips of my fingers. I curse in my head at my father who was to lazy to clean out one of the garages so I could park my car so I wouldn't have to walk so far to get out of the cold. As I reach the front door I pull my keys out of my coat pocket to unlock the front door. I start to walk in and almost close the door before i remembered i still need to lock my car and press the lock button while waiting for the car to beep indicating that it's locked.
I hang my keys up on the rack and start to go up the steps as I hear my father say to me ,"hey Alex how was school?"
I shrug as I say ,"school is school."
"So it's sounds like you had a good day," he replies sarcastically.
"Obviously," i replied sarcastically as I walk down the hall to my room. I throw my backpack down on my bed and walk back to were my dad is cooking dinner for us in the kitchen. I take a seat on the bar stool as I spin it around in circles listening to my dad talk to me.
"What happened on the world history test?" He asked me.
"I screwed up," I replied. I remember that day I took the test, I thought I would ace it so I didn't worry about studying for it and a new episode of my favorite TV show was airing that night so I chose TV over my grade. It really did show that I didn't study because when I got the test I didn't have have a clue what to do and then Bam! I failed miserably.
"I know, you screwed up big time." He said. "I don't understand how your brother and sister are smart and you ended up being a dumb a**."
"Thanks for the compliment," I replied sarcastically. Everyone tells me how dumb I am compared to my siblings. As a child I always had trouble in school when it came to my grades. At my house no one really gave me the help I needed because my brother never needed help so they just assumed I would end up like him. I was doing okay till fourth grade when I was falling behind with my schoolwork. I had to be tested because my teacher thought I was dyslexic, but it turns out I have a low reading comprehension level. This caused me to have to be tutored in reading, spelling, and math. Well math didn't have to do with my reading skills, i was just bad at it. I was very grateful to have been blessed with such an amazing tutor who was so kind and patient with me, she helped me make it through fourth and fifth grade. Without her I would have had failed fourth grade and probably still be in fourth grade now instead of twelfth grade.
"Alexandra you need to work harder on your school work. Just because your a senior doesn't mean you should slack off." My father scowled me.
"Yes sir, I'll work harder." He nodded his head in approval as he finished up dinner.
===========================
I was finishing up my homework in my room when my dad came in and said, "Can you go outside and feed the dogs for me, please?"Not looking up at my father or paying attention to what he was telling me I said "sure." I brushed off what he told me and kept working on my homework. It wasn't till ten minutes later when he came back into my room to ask me if I had fed the dogs yet, that I realized I actually had agreed to feeding them. I got off my bed and went downstairs into the garage and got a cup full of dog food to take outside. I then slipped on my Muck boots and unlocked the back door to go outside and feed the dogs.
I walked along the path to the dog cage very slowly, being aware of my surroundings at all times. I was afraid to go outside when it was dark, always being scared of bad things that happen in the dark. It was especially bad when you lived in the country and were surrounded by woods, some kind of animal could just jump out and eat you! Okay so maybe I am overreacting just a tiny bit, but excuse me for not wanting to be killed or eaten. I mean I've heard some stories about things that hide in the woods scary, big, dark, and blood thirsty creatures that would love to sink there teeth into a helpless unarmed girl.........
I shook my head trying to clear my mind of all bad thoughts. "Think positive Alexis," I said out loud to myself. I tried to cover up my fear by lowly singing a slow song, it was called 'Monster' by 'the girl and the dreamcatcher' (a/n: this is an actual song that I REALLY love so look it up if you want to). "Your a monster but I want ya, what does that say about me?" I sang.
I suddenly stopped when I heard the braking of a stick. I frantically looked around trying to figure out what made that sound. I stopped dead in my tracks as my eyes locked with two golden glowing eyes. I wanted to scream but I couldn't do it. I wanted to run, but it was as if my feet were glued to that spot.
===========================
A/N: okay I am soooooooooo happy to be writing this story I think it will be a good hit and I hope I get a lot of people reading it.I also just needed to say that Alex was singing the song a lot longer than the lyrics I wrote that she was singing, I'm just to lazy to write out the whole song.
Also I imagined Lauren Jauregui (from fifth harmony) as Alexandra.
This chapter is now 1214 words long.
