Lyla held her breath. One side of her wanted to scream and run, the other told her to stay where the fuck she was. She listened to the latter. She stayed where she was. Not moving an inch.
She was sure whoever was there was gone. At least she didn't hear anymore footsteps. She thought she was good, but suddenly her phone rang. "No!" she muttered under her breath.
"Lyla." she heard someone whisper. She held her breath again. "Lyla, I know where you are." the voice said again.
"Who are you?" Lyla asked into the darkness. "I'm Eli!" the boy yelled as he held a flashlight under his face. Lyla screamed and pushed Eli away from her. "Goddamnit! Why would you do that?!" Lyla yelled angrily.
"I heard you didn't wanna go to the Beach and I call bullshit on that. You're going!" Eli said. "Did you turn the power off?" Lyla asked. "Yes, sorry. Don't change the subject. Come on, let's go." Eli said as he pulled Lyla away with him. Lyla sighed, but didn't fight back.
"Heeeey!" Nellie yelled as she saw the approaching couple. "Lyla, you're here. Thank god, I was so worried." Nellie said as she kissed Lyla's cheek. She was drunk.
"Yes, I'm here. Calm down." the blonde said as she pushed her friend away from her, chuckling. "Now, can we get this thing started already!" Lyla yelled out. Her friends cheered as Seth handed Lyla a beer and Mae hugged her sister from the side.
"I'm glad you're here." Mae said. "Me too, I guess." Lyla sighed, smiling. "Wooooo! I'm jut glad all of my friends are here and we're partying and it's just great, you know?" Eli yelled.
"Are you high right now?" Liv asked him. "Just a little." Eli said, smirking as he took another puff from his joint. "Well, well, well. Look at our future cop over here." Ryder laughed.
"Oh please, as if he'll even make it to that point. They'll smell the weed on him at some point." Seth teased. Eli flipped him off and plopped down next to Daisy, planting a kiss on her lips.
"You gonna be okay?" Nellie asked, bumping into her shoulder playfully. Lyla sighed again. "I guess. Life goes on. We'll graduate soon and I'll be out of here before you can even say the word good-bye." Lyla said. Nellie chuckled. "I'll cheers to that." Nellie said, raising her bottle. Lyla raised hers and they let their bottles cling, still laughing histerically.
"Man, what a bunch of weirdos, right?" Ryder asked Olivia, practically falling next to her on the ground. "You're pretty hammered yourself, aren't you?" Liv asked, somewhat smiling. She was still fidgeting around and Ryder knew from experience that she was nervous about something.
"What is it?" Ryder asked. "Naomi. She's still not here, I'm worried." Olivia admitted. Ryder sighed, falling back onto the ground. "Come on, Liv. The girl is old enough to take care of herself. Maybe she just bailed on us to spend some 'quality time' with one of her boy toys." he said.
Olivia glared at him. "You know she isn't that much of a bitch. Not to mention that this is her parents house, do you really think she'd let us stay in her house for two weeks in fear of us trashing this place?" Liv asked.
Ryder over-dramatically sighed once more, her rolled around and sat back up. "I don't know woman, maybe she'll be here tomorrow or next week. Maybe she won't come at all. All I know is that right here and right now all I care about is your beautiful eyes in the moonlight." Ryder said.
"What? How hammered are you right now?" Olivia asked chuckling. "Very. But I meant the eye thing, well kinda. I mean you're beautiful, I'm beautiful and together we'd make beautiful children." he said.
"It's getting worse, sweety." she said, laying down to look at the stars. Ryder layed down next to her. "You called me sweety. That's a start." he said. Olivia laughed quietly. "You'll never give up, huh?" she asked. Ryder shook his head. "Not in this life." he said.
Mae had parted ways with the rest of the group, she went into the forest to call her boyfriend. She knew it was stupid to go into the woods at night, but she needed some alone time.
Being the dumb teenager she was, she forgot that it was practically impossible to get reception in the forest. As she was fumbling with her phone, she heard a twig snap in the distance.
Her head snapped up. "Oh fuck. Are you serious right now?" she mumbled. She sighed, her breath turning into smoke as she set off to get out of the woods.
She knew something was wrong. She was walking fast paced, while still hoping it was nothing or one of the guys messing with her. "Please just let me get back to the group." she mumbled. Mae wasn't sure if it was to herself, the possible person behind her or simply to God.
She heard another twig snap and took that as her cue to run. She took off, now clearly hearing a heavy set of footsteps following her. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!" she yelled as the killer was getting closer to her.
She was almost back at the beach, just twenty steps away, when the killer caught up to her. He grabbed her, clearly over powering the slim girl, tightly grabbed the handle of his knife and dug it into her abdomen.
Mae sank to her knees, blood spilling out of her mouth as she tried screaming for help. She struggled to get back up, when the killer stepped on her fresh wound making the girl scream. Once again, nothing but a silent whimper escaped her mouth.
The killer then took off, knowing the girl didn't have the strength to crawl away, let alone stand up. "Lyla?" the girl mumbled as tears streamed down her face. "Help me." she stuttered as blood spilled out of her mouth again. Her eyes fluttered shut and a few minutes later she took her final breath.
