"Come on Lyla, run!" Seth said. He didn't want to admitt it to himself, but he had gotten this feeling a few seconds ago that someone was following them. He didn't know how Eli could've gotten out of the basement. There was no key in it.
"I can't anymore. My head hurts so bad!" she screamed. "Just a little more. Ryder and Thea couldn't have gotten that far. We can catch up to them." he yelled back. He knew she was hurting, not just from the wound on her head, but there was no time to slow down now. If they wanted to survive, they had to keep in motion.
The floor was muddy and Seth was afraid that they would slip or sink into the earthy ground. He had to catch himself from falling several times at this point. He too was tired. He wanted to give up as well, but not right now, not when there was only one more hour left until dawn. Then, hopefully, the police would come.
Suddenly Lyla stopped dead in her tracks. "What? What is it?" Seth asked, trying to get her to move again. "Is that?" she asked pointing ahead of the road, her lip quiverring as both of them already knew who it was. "How did he get out the basement?" Lyla asked. "I don't know! Run!" he yelled at her.
And just as they were ready to turn around an run back, Lyla slipped on the ground. "Goddamnit!" she yelled angrily, trying to get up. Seth quickly helped her back to her feet. As the blonde stood in front of him, her eyes went glassy for a second then she screamed. "Watch out!" but too late, Eli had already struck Seth over the head with a heavy object that she couldn't make out before she was hit as well.
When the girl slowly opened regained conciousness, she saw Seth lying next to her. And Eli in front of them. "Good morning, sleeping beauty." he said. "Fuck off!" she snapped. He laughed unfazed.
"What do you want from us?" Lyla asked. "I want nothing from you. I just want you! No questions, no back talk. I just want your smoking hot body all to myself." he said.
"It'll be a cold day in hell before that happens." she hissed. "You say that now, but what will be once I have this knife to your throat and demand you let me have your body?" he asked. "I'd say that you can kill me, because there's no way in hell that I'll beg you for my life or let you have my body." she said.
He knelt down next to her. "Well you don't have much of a choice, do you know?" he said. Eli had failed to tie up her feet, so Lyla quickly kneeled him in the groin. He fell back, but was on his knees just as quick. "Big mistake!" he said, then knocked her out again.
A few minutes later she was being shaken awake by Seth. "Lyla, wake up!" he whispered. She groaned in pain, but Seth shushed her. "Eli is gone, I don't know where he went but I got free from the rope." he said, while fumbling to get hers open.
"What does he want at this point?" Lyla asked when Seth finally released her. "I don't know, to chase us down? Play mind games with us? He has to have some kind of endgame here. It can't be killing us, he would have done it already." Seth said.
"Come on, get up." he said to her. She crept up, trying not to make too much noise. The room was engulfed in darkness and only the sudden light illuminating from Seths phone light up the room a bit.
"Where are we?" Lyla asked. Seth shrugged. "I think this might be the shed. Or garage." he said. Lyla nodded and turned arund. "I think this is the garage. Maybe there's a door back into the house. Shine the light over here." she whispered.
As Seth turned around, shining the light toward Lyla. The girl had to muffle a scream as the light suddenly revealed the bodys of their best friends and in the midst of them was her sister, Mae.
