Kurapika's POV:

It was dinner time and my wife was setting up the table, our son Hibiki fell asleep early so it was now just the two of us. My palms grew nervous and decided that I had nothing to loose. So as soon as Y/n sat down I spoke up.

"Y/n we need to talk." She only smiled sweetly

"Sure, what is it about Kurapika?"

"Our marriage" Her smile dropped and she looked at me worriedly

"Go on..." her voice weakened

"I want a divorce." I went straight to the point, she put her fork down and smiled at me, which shocked me, I thought she would yell or cry but she just smiled....

"I'm guessing you and that Jane girl are more than friends." She spoke softly. It was true as well. I fell in love with Jane and nothing could tear us apart. "Don't worry, I'll make sure I don't get in the way." She slowly got up and threw all the food she still had on the plate into the trash can, she went upstairs and I was left with quietness. I smiled to myself.

That was easy!

I texted Jane the good news and decided to go to her house to spend the night. The next day when I came home from work Y/n told me to go to the kitchen and there I saw all the divorce papers.

"Do you want something in exchange?" I asked, she nodded

"Every day, for one month I want you to carry me down the stairs every morning and carry me up the stairs for the night." I raised an eyebrow at her odd request, I agreed and signed the papers. I texted Jane about the request Y/n told me to do.

"What a weirdo! Lol!" She responded, I only smiled as I though about Jane. Soon enough it was time for bed and so I picked Y/n up, I noticed how light she had gotten, maybe it was because I haven't touched her in so long. My son was clapping behind us.

"Daddy is holding mommy in his arms!" He yelled excitedly which only made me feel pain, I layer her down on our bed and she whispered softly .

"Don't tell our son about our divorce, he had exams and I don't want to disrupt him with our problems." I only nodded

On the second day, I carried her more swiftly, she seemed more calm and her head layed on my chest. I could smell her sweet fragrance from her blouse and realized I never looked at her that much. She had a very small amount of wrinkled and her hair was graying, at this point I only pitted her for wasting her time on me.

After the fifth day I realized that our marriage wasn't breaking because we didn't love each other, it's because we lacked intimacy. On the sixth day my wife had trouble picking out her clothes.

"They're too big on me." Y/n kept saying, I then realized that she only got thinner and that's why it was so easy to carry her. Suddenly it hit me, she had buried so much bitterness and pain in her heart. All because of me. Our son came in at the moment and said.

"Dad, it's time to carry mom out." To him, me carrying his mother was a daily routine in his life. Y/n hugged Hibiki tightly in her arms, I looked away since I feared having second thoughts about the divorce.

On the last day I drove away and went to Jane's office, she greeted me but I interrupted her in the process.

"Sorry Jane, I do not want the divorce anymore" She looked at me, a shocked expression on her pale face, she touched my forehead and asked

"Are you ok? Do you have a fever?" I moved her hand off my head

"Sorry, Jane, I said, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of our lives, not because we didn't love each other anymore. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart."

Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. "YOU JERK!!!" She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears.

I walked downstairs and drove away. At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The sales girl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote,

"I'll carry you out every morning until death do us apart." Excited I drove back to the house and walked into our bedroom only to find her lifeless body across the bed.

"Y/n?" I shakily ask, I dropped to my knees and cried, holding her dead body tightly.

Y/n had been fighting cancer for months and I was too busy with Jane to even noticed. I realized that the reason why Y/n asked me to carry her everyday is so that in our son's eyes. I was a kind and loving husband.
