Dying is easy, it's living that scares me to death.

Prologue

He found the vial clasped in his hand, the only thing proving that the dream held the truth.

After he had breakfast and fed his baby sister Lillian, he told his grandparents what had happened and what he was going to.

His grandparents, Eliza and Malcolm, were worried at first but when Connor had told them he will be keeping them updated on what was happening and keeping his phone on so they could track him down if they were really worried, they reluctantly let him go. After all, he and Lilian were the only people they had left, as their daughter and son-in-law had been killed in the battle.

Connor, not wanting to waste anymore time, asked his grandparents to inform only the Alpha O'Malley of the Moonlight pack about the situation.

As he was driving, the voice of the old faerie was in the back of his mind, giving him directions to the creepy looking abandoned mental asylum. When he rounded the mansion to the back entrance he found a woman waiting for him, just as the old lady had told him.

Connor Moore followed the short, plump woman into the building, through the doors to the basement. Spraying more of the magic perfume to mask his scent so the rouges couldn't smell him out, before he rescued his sister.

He would have brought an army of werewolves with him but he had been told not to tell anyone about his journey, that and he had no evidence that his younger sister, Selene, was actually being held captive there, except for the dream he had.

"It's worked! Come on boy, open your eyes. I only have limited time here, this spell doesn't last long." Connor heard a frantic, women called out, presumably to him. Connor opened his eyes but quickly shut it again to shield his eyes from the brightness.

"Sorry about that, but I cant do anything about it, I've complained many times to the higher councils but they still haven't done anything." The voice, an old woman as Connor could see, apologized.

"What the hell, where am I and who are you?"

The old woman turned to face the young man, her greying hair flying out her tight bun, she could see how much he resembled his father but he did have his mothers grey eyes.

He had grown so much from the last time she had seen him, 17 years to be precise, and he was only three at that time but nevertheless she could see how much the consequences of the unexpected battle had taken a toll on him.

Oh that's right she brought him into the dreamland to talk about Selene. Even though she was the second most powerful faerie of her lifetime, she still had those moments when her attention span was equivalent to a squirrel.

"Forget about that, there are more important things at hand, I have brought you here to discuss about your sister Selene." At the mention of his sister Connor put his head down in shame, if he had payed more attention to her then she would have been safe with him and not. Dead.

"Oh boy, for an alphas son you are quite stupid," the faerie exclaimed whilst Connor's head snapped up to meet the old woman's eyes, not liking being insulted at all, "I mean you can still feel her bond , even if it is weak, she's still alive!"

Connor searched for the bond connecting to his sister and when he found it he concentrated at the silence and there it was, a slow, weak beat of her heart, Connor could feel a grin slipping onto his face, shes still alive. His sister is still alive!

"Don't get too happy, because shes being held captive and I fear if she is not found and treated in less than two days, she will in fact be gone forever, so I suggest you listen very good and remember what I am to tell you, actually I'll just implant it into your brain." Connor frowned but nodded nonetheless.

"Okay good," the faerie made a 3D map of a forest emerge from the ground and hover in mid air, " this is the Morganville Forest four hours drive from where you are currently residing," she zoomed into a part of the forest "In the west part of the forest, you will come across a clearing and in this clearing you will find an abandoned mansion." An image of a huge, eerie mansion came into view.

"It is so creepy," Connor opened his mouth "and yes I can hear your thoughts. Anyways, you will go round the back." All the time whilst she instructed, the map moved and zoomed accordingly to the place she was talking about."There you will find a woman waiting for you and she will guide you to the room where your sister is being held captive."

"Can I see my sister?" Connor asked, when the elderly woman finished, eager to see the face of his sister that he hadn't seen for two whole months.

"No, sorry, my magic is running out and I still have something left to say," she fished around her pocket and brought out a small vial with a glimmering blue liquid inside. "When you are on the journey to get Selene back, wear this and it will mask your scent so no one will notice you have crept in.

Oh, and don't inform anyone, about this dream and the journey and be sure not to tell anyone else about what had happened to Selene. Actually tell your grandparents, and the alpha of your pack. That is all, goodbye."

"She's in there." The plump lady spoke, her voice unnaturally high, as she reached a hard steel door. Connor looked at the door and let out a heavy sigh, placing his hand on the cold door, he turned to thank the woman but she was already gone.

With a hard push, the door opened. Connor drew in a audible gasp as he saw the scene unfold in front of him.

Selene's ears were screeching from the deafening silence. She could barely keep her stinging eyes open because of the dryness but what was there to look at, there was only darkness and more darkness.

She would have shouted for help but what is the point, nobody's going to hear it even if it does reach their ears and anyways her throat was sore from thirst and cries. The thin clothing protected her, in vain, from the freezing cold, but it was better than nothing.

At the end of the tunnel of darkness she saw light flooding in. Is this it? She thought. Probably not. She closed her eyes waiting for the impact to hit but the only thing she felt was being lifted.

So she was wrong. This is it. This is the end. Her soul was being lifted from her body and now she can fall into the darkness. Only this time the darkness wouldn't be troubled. It will only hold peace, something she was yearning to feel.

Selene was light as a feather in Connor's arms.

Connor held back the tears in his eyes. His sister was covered with blood and had lost a lot of weight, he could feel her ribs poking through the thin shirt she was wearing, he was afraid he'll break her if he wasn't careful.

He took his jacket off to wrap it around Selene's thin body, to give her warmth. His wolf was howling in anger and pain, seeing the condition she was in, but he kept him reigned because he had to get Selene to safety and treat her as soon as possible.

Just as he crossed the threshold, the plump women came into view. The women's face showed despair as her eyes fell on Selene but quickly hid it and showed the way out of the building.

Ask Alpha O'Malley to get the pack doctor to our house with all her equipment and make sure nobody see's him entering the house. Connor spoke through the mind link to his grandparents, he also sent an image of Selene. With that he cut off the mindlink so he can focus on getting Selene home, safe and fast. He layed her across the backseat of his car and sped off, praying he wasn't too late.
