⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "Gryffindor!"
The Sorting Hat's notice echoed through the Great Hall just before it was picked up from Ryan. Her sight was once again cleared as she faced the students, not quite sure how to feel about the sorting. It was perceived as if the Sorting Hat decided Gryffindor for her because she did not fit in anywhere else. Even so, in such case, she hoped for Ravenclaw even if it was quite impossible for her to make it there. Ryan did not like studying if it was not something that she was interested in and was not really the cleverest individual out there. She probably could not be a Hufflepuff like Newt or Alice, as she did not see herself as kind and loyal as they were. As for Slytherin, she never tended to be shrewd or ambitious. Then again, according to what everyone else said about the house of lions, she did not see herself as someone brave as well, not enough to be part of the house.
"No," she replied at her own anxiety: she did not feel brave, she was not brave. No matter what, the more she thought about it, the more she noticed neither of her qualifications met the famous characteristics of the four houses.
Maybe, there were wrong.
The situation was rather confusing for her, yet Ryan still found her way to the table of Gryffindor house, to take her seat.
"Ryan!" Frank called her when she approached the table. The sight of familiar face eased her anxiety a bit as she took her seat between Frank and Remus. However, Ryan inhaled a sharp breath when she found others' eyes on her, some of them curious, others, surprisingly happy.
"Welcome," some older students said as they shook her hand, not even taking a notice of how nervous Ryan felt because of the attention she was getting. Looking around for any escape, her eyes landed on the headmaster, who was watching her from the professors' table. He seemed concerned for her but smiled gently to show it was okay to be among people and no one was going to hurt her.
"Alice owns me one galleon," Frank announced just then and grinned proudly as he looked towards the other table, where Alice was glaring at his smug grin. "We made a bet," he continued as he leaned closer to Ryan's ear for her to hear him better: "She said you will be a Hufflepuff and I said Gryffindor."
Ryan elevated her eyebrow and she, so badly, wanted to ask why they had a reason to make a bet over in which house she would be sorted in. Unfortunately, there was not a parchment piece around and currently, she did not want to get any other attention. Yet, she still took a mental note to carry at least one piece around for an emergency situation that would require her to communicate.
