⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Remus Lupin was rather good at judging people and their personality and it was not a surprise to know he was right when he claimed that Ryan Selwyn owned a kind soul. As the morning she opened her eyes in the Hospital Wing, she, quite perfectly, remembered the incident that triggered her, yet did not make any attempt to explain what happened when Dumbledore questioned her. The incidents of the previous night repeated themselves like an old movie in her mind and for that very reason, she did not know how to feel about Sirius' honesty. She had no explanation for why he said she was indeed a real Selwyn, why he seemed so hurt while saying those and why was he there in the first place. Ryan did not have an answer for any of those questions but one thing for sure, she was more than glad that Sirius did not wait in the classroom long enough for her to hurt him. That would be too painful for her to remember.
"Why was Mr Black there?" Dumbledore asked as he noticed how Ryan hesitated to meet his gaze, even though he had a guess about it. Ryan, on the other hand, reached for a parchment to scribed her answer:
I don't know, Professor.
Dumbledore looked at her with his bright blue eyes, a knowing, tiny smile on his lips. The way Ryan protected Sirius, even if she was not aware of it, reminded him of the certain magizoologist, who could be rather reckless when it came to protecting others. It was clear that Ryan was quite similar to him at such an aspect. Therefore, he asked no more questions and decided to leave the young witch alone for her to rest.
"Alright then, Miss Selwyn. Please rest, you are allowed to not join classes for today."
When Dumbledore left Hospital Wing, Madam Pomfrey did not miss a second to shove potions down Ryan's throat, leaving her with no other chance but staying there for a whole day. The potions had a funny effect that made her sleepy after all, and Ryan did not even fight against it. She welcomed the comfort by closing her eyes, but there was still that small voice behind her mind warning her that she forgot something or rather, someone.
Sirius walked in the classroom that morning with a faint piece of hope in him to find Ryan there. He even completed his assignment to not get a warning from the professor, which would cause her to keep eye on him during lecture and not give him a chance to talk to Ryan ― well he would talk and she, hopefully, listen. However, that hope of his quickly faded away the moment he noticed she was not there. Part of him was worried about her, as the last time he was with her, she was not in a good condition, whereas other part carried pure curiosity. What exactly happened in that classroom?
