Chad slumped forward against the counter, chin on his hand, letting out a sigh. It was just the day before that Eloria had smiled at him and now he couldn't get that thought out of his head.
Sure, it was just a simple smile, but Chad thought it was one of the most beautiful smiles he had ever seen, next to his mom's of course. How one girl seemed to make Chad fall head over heels was outrageous, even for a guy like him. He's only met the girl like, what, three times in the time span of four weeks?
"Gross, you're making that face again," Damien said, scrunching up his face in disgust.
Chad rolled his eyes. "Sue me," he held his hands up, "But one day, when you find someone you really like, you'll be making the same face," he said.
"No thank you," Damien said. "Plus, you've only met her like, three times or something," Damien added.
"Who cares? It's not like you've seen her for more," Chad shrugged.Damien smirked. "Actually, I have."
Chad looked up at Damien. "What do you mean?"
"She came in last week when you had the day off," Damien shrugged, grabbing a towel to wipe the counter.
Chad let out a "hrmph" sound, slumping against the counter again, before forcibly being removed by Damien who was wiping the counter.
"She asked where you were," Damien casually said.
"Yeah, I bet," Chad sighed before his eyes widened, "Wait, she did?!"
"Mhm," Damien nodded.
"Ugh, man," Chad sighed again.
"Dude, stop being so mushy and shit. It's insanely annoying," Damien said, rolling his eyes."Well, love is insanity. The ancient Greeks knew that. It is the taking over of a rational and lucid mind by delusion and self-destruction. You lose yourself, you have no power over yourself, you can't even-"
"Okay, I seriously don't need you to quote Marilyn French right now," Damien shook his head, "I don't even know how I knew you were quoting her- whatever. Just stop, okay?"
Chad sighed once again.
"Alright, lover boy, I get it. Now stop your daydreaming and get to work. We have customers to serve," Damien said.
"Damien?"
"What is it now?"
"You haven't flipped the open sign yet."
