"Damien, I messed up," Chad said, letting out a distressed groan from where he was currently burying his face in his hands on the counter top.
"Oh, I know," Damien said, staring at his friend whom he had no pity for whatsoever.
"Don't you feel bad for me?" Chad peeked from his hands to look at Damien.
Damien put on a thoughtful face.
"Hmm, let me think. Nope."Chad groaned. "You don't even know what happened."
"I don't need to know what happened. I won't care anyway."
"You know, you're the worst comforter ever. I hope you slip on a banana peel, Damien," Chad said with spite.
Damien rolled his eyes.
"Okay, fine. Tell me what happened."Chad perked up. He stood straight and looked at Damien. His eyes were a bit misty.
Damien sighed in annoyance.
"Quickly, before I change my mind.""Okay, so the other day, Eloria came here as usual. But this time, she brought a friend. And not just any friend. She brought May. May as in, my also friend May. May, Max's sister. The May-"
"Okay, I get it. So what?"
"So, my friend. I didn't know that they were besties. And that being said, I had no idea how to react when I saw the two of them right in front of me. Because for one, I didn't want May to see me being love struck and embarrass myself. I would get endless teasing for it. But two, I didn't want Eloria to think I'm some dude who hangs out with a lot of girls. Because-""Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Your sentence is getting too long and I'm pretty sure the author hates writing it." Damien cut Chad off.
"Did you just-"
"Anyway, stop ranting and just cut to the chase," Damien said.
Chad sighed.
"Fine. I didn't mean to basically ignore Eloria the whole time, but I did. I wasn't supposed to do that, but I did! I just let my inner ego get the best of me. I'm the worst."Damien nodded in understanding.
"Relax. She probably won't think too much of it. Probably.""Yeah, but what about me? I care a lot about her and I don't want to hurt her feelings. Guys think about this stuff, you know?" Chad said.
Damien rolled his eyes.
"Not all guys.""You mean you," Chad glared a bit, sporting a tiny pout.
"Whatever. Enough with this talk already and go flip the 'open' sign," Damien instructed.
"Recently, we've been opening up the shop too late."
