"Hey Lazuli! Check out my impression of Pierre from the last episode!" Peridot shouted across the barn, shaking her hips and pursing her lips to mock one of the characters from their favorite show, Camp Pining Hearts. Lapis Lazuli, her roommate, set down one of the boxes she was moving and looked up and Peridot.
She snorted loudly and shouted back, "That's not what they sounded like! It was more like this." She waved her hands around wildly and jumped around, causing Peridot to fall to her knees in laughter. Both of the gems giggled and wheezed to their hearts content, because in the barn they shared, nobody could hear them or judge them.

The holidays were coming up soon and after Steven took them both out into town, they were inspired by the many lights and decorations the stores had hanging on their walls and windows.
"Peridot, we have to get lights like those for the barn!" Lapis pointed to a certain string of lights in the book store. The thin string of stars twinkled in a pattern that mesmerized both of them.
Peridot smiled, "They remind me of the stars we see at night when we go up on the roof and watch them!" Lapis nodded, never taking her eyes off the stars.
"I think it would be a great idea for you two to get those lights! Soon it will be winter and it'll be too cold for you two to go outside and stargaze at night. If you get those lights, you'll be able to stargaze in the warmth of your barn!" Steven agreed. It was settled, Lapis and Peridot got the twinkling white lights and after waving goodbye to Steven and the other gems, they headed back to the barn for the final touch of their decorating.

Each of the gems took one side of the barn to hang a string of lights. Lapis had the right side, where they had their tv and a couch, perfect for long, late night marathons of Camp Pining Hearts. Peridot had the left side, where they had piles of old pillows and blankets with holes in them, meant for times when they just needed to lie down and rest. Of course Peridot had to stand on her paint cans to reach a high enough spot to hang the lights, while Lapis could use her wings to get her to the correct height.
"Finished!" Lapis announced proudly as she landed on the ground and placed her hands on her hips, admiring the twinkling stars above her.
"How's it going over there, Peridot?" She asked, slowly turning to her roommate who was struggling to tack the last section to the wall. She stood on her tiny tip toes as her paint cans trembled on the edge of the platform.
"Peridot! Be careful!" Lapis warned, yet she was too late. Peridot's paint cans slipped from the edge and she fell from the ledge to the floor of the barn just as she hung the last piece of lighting. Luckily, she landed on a rather padded spot of hay, yet her green visor flew off her face due to impact. Slowly, she rose from the floor and shook her head, sending strands of hay flying across the room as if she were a dog shaking after a bath. Lapis hopped down beside her quickly making sure she was ok, even though she was unaware Peridot lost her visor in the process.
"Peridot, are you ok? Are you-" Lapis started, yet she paused due to shock. Her eyes still shut as she rubbed her little head, Peridot looked up at Lapis and opened her eyes. She gasped silently as she looked at the water gem above her. For the first time, she saw Lapis in the colors that she truly was. Her eyes widened as she admired the different shades of blues that made up her appearance.
"Lapis...you're not green.." She said in awe, eyes nearly as big as her face. Lapis couldn't help but chuckle slightly, yet she stared right into Peridot's eyes, never blinking. The star lights reflected in Peridot's beautiful, turquoise eyes. Blues and greens seemed to swirl all in her eyes, making it difficult for Lapis to look away from their beauty.
"Peridot, I had no idea that you had blue AND green in your eyes!" Lapis said, shocked.
Peridot blinked and cocked her head. "I do? Woah... But wait! I thought you were green!"
Lapis shook her head and furrowed her eyebrows. "Have you never taken off your visor?"
Peridot shook her head. "No. I've always worn it because it protected my eyes and it helped me read codes and scripts back on homeworld." A smile made it's way across Lapis's face. She rose from the floor of the barn and retrieved Peridot's tablet. Without a word, Lapis opened the camera on the tablet and faced the camera towards Peridot, causing her to gasp and lean into it, admiring the colors of her eyes. "Woah.. they're beautiful Lapis.." She nodded and went to the camera roll of the tablet. Swiping through all of the photos they took together she showed Peridot that she's been blue this whole time. Smiling, she looked at Lapis once again and a slight green blush formed on her cheeks, causing Lapis's cheeks to go dark blue. They both laughed. Looking up, Peridot saw the white star lights shining above their heads. Lapis followed, her jaw dropping as she saw the beauty around them. "Lapis, our barn looks so beautiful with the stars twinkling!" Peridot said, making Lapis giggle. Then, Lapis's eyes sparkled as she gasped and grabbed a hold of Peridot's arm.
"Follow me, to the roof. But close your eyes." Lapis said quietly, as if whispering.

They made it to the roof, Lapis carried her small roommate to the top as she had her eyes clamped tightly.
"Here." Lapis said, setting her down and turning towards her. Slowly, Peridot's eyes widened and her jaw dropped. The night sky welcomed her, as shades of blue, purple, and greens streaked and painted the sky. Stars of white, blue, and gray shined brightly all over. "It's really different compared to seeing all green, huh Peridot?" She asked, enjoying the reaction of her roommate. Peridot merely nodded, hardly taking the time to blink. Suddenly, Peridot wrapped her arms around Lapis and squeezing tightly.
"Thanks Lapis, for showing me this. It's- it's absolutely stunning to see." She said, her tears wetting Lapis's crop top slightly.
She laughed and hugged back, "You're welcome Peridot. How about we go back inside and watch Camp Pining Hearts, in true color?" Peridot looked up into Lapis's rich, blue eyes with the brightest smile on her face as the stars twinkled in her turquoise eyes. She nodded in excitement and jumped into Lazuli's arms, pointing off into the distance and shouting, "To the tv!" She ordered as Lapis spread her wings and snorted loudly as they took off into the night.
