Ajax spun around to face his friends as soon as the girl was out of sight.
"What the heck?! The girl smashed right into me and didn't even apologize! You guys shouldn't have stopped me, and I'm not blind !" he snarled.
"Ajax, you know you'll only get suspended or even expelled considering your history, you can't be so careless everytime someone says or does something you don't like, " Luke, who had blond surfer hair and electric blue eyes, said.
    "I-"
"Yeah, and you weren't looking where you were going either, it's not entirely the girl's fault. She's obviously new, give her a break, dude," Bryan, who had auburn hair and grayish-green eyes, said in agreement.
Ajax let out a breath in frustration. His friends were always acting like they knew everything.
"Take it easy, " Luke told him, "or you'll end up like last time. "
Ajax glared at him. "Don't you even dare mention it! "
His friends were ganging up on him. Again.
"Just... Just-" Ajax stopped, not really knowing what to say. He sounded like a toddler throwing a tantrum while Luke and Bryan were acting like parents. He growled in annoyance.
Luke clapped him on the back.
"Come on, it's ball time, you won't want to miss practice,"he said.
    Ajax followed after them grudgingly.
All through practice, the only thing  Ajax could think about was the new girl. He was mad, really mad. But he couldn't help thinking about her striking emerald green eyes and her creamy brown, wavy hair. Feeling annoyed and frustrated at the same time, he threw the basketball at the basket with too much force, causing it to bounce back with a crash.
"Hunter, focus!" Coach Jenkins yelled at him.
Ajax almost screamed back at his coach. He usually wasn't so bad tempered, but he was stressed out about his family and mad about his encounter with the new girl. He even almost told Coach not to address him by his last name, which was probably not a good idea.
After practice, Ajax threw on his shirt, not bothering to shower.
"Dude, you're not still mad at the girl, are you? " Luke said.
    "No," Ajax muttered.
"Which means yes. I told you to let it go, "Luke said.
"She has to pay for what she's done,"Ajax said.
"What has she done? She only accidentally bumped into you, and you what, drag her down into your mess so you can feel better? "
"Well, maybe I need someone who doesn't think he knows better and actually helps me get through my freaking mess! "Ajax yelled, finally losing his temper. He stormed out of the gym in fury.
Luke called after him, but Ajax ignored him, grabbing his school bag and hurrying out of the school grounds.
By the time Ajax arrived back home, he was breathless, and most of his anger had subsided.
He took out the house key and unlocked the front door.
"Gran? Are you here? " he called.
"Jaxy? I'm glad you're back,"his grandmother said, smiling as she came down from the stairs. She was also the only person who was allowed to call him 'Jaxy'.
    "How's mom? " he asked.
Gran sighed. "I'm afraid she still can't remember. "
Ajax nodded, swallowing. "Can I go for a walk?"
    "Sure. "
Ajax couldn't help feeling glad that Gran was so understanding.
"I'll be back before dark, " he told her, running out of the house again.
The fresh air felt good on his face as he walked down the deserted street, not really knowing how he felt about everything, especially his Mom.
Everything was a mess, and he didn't know what to do to clean it up.
He was strolling around aimlessly when he spotted the girl.
Just his luck. This girl had ruined enough of his day.
An unknown anger rose within him, making him seethe.
Before he realized it, he was marching toward the girl, snatching her before she could react.
    Time to do some bullying.
