Chapter 9
Sleat Fross's POVDancing curtains, swinging dream catchers and twinkling stars jammed my eyes after I throw myself on my bed. Holding my pillow tightly while staring outside of my window, I turned on the other side of my bed. The bright smile of a little child on that frame crossed my eyes. I was too young then. I reached that picture frame and for a moment, I paused.
"Very young," I whispered to myself upon looking to my father's portrait. It's a picture of me and my dad.
I'm lucky to have him as my dad. Though, not for real but he's like a real father to me. I was 9 when dad told me the truth about who I am. He said, I was a blessing in disguise. I was a blessing he never asked for. I'm merely just a child, abandoned by my parents. And fortunately, he was the one who adapted me.
Then I turned my sight to that basket on the corner. I was on that basket, when he found me. Someone left me on that basket. 'No trace, no signs', that someone is completely gone.
I wonder who she is. She'll explain who am I exactly. Then I looked into my white palms. I wonder if my hands glow. I slowly closed my eyes and stared back to my hands. Glow. I whispered to my head. Eventually, my hands made light. It's like a ball of light being placed on top of my both hands. "This is amazing." I whispered softly to myself. I tried to blow that ball of light that causes it to flew over my room. They are like tiny lightbulbs flying inside my bedroom.
I sat on my bed and watched it floating on the air. And then, I made more of them. It lighted up my room like a ceiling lamp or chandelier. I sighed for being stunned and another pace of my mind interrupted my moment. I'll die soon for having this very wonderful gift. I lie down my bed watching those floating lights I made. Let's see what'll happen tomorrow, wether I'll live or die.
"Sleat?" I was frightened when someone suddenly opened the door. So, I immediately cut off those lights I made."Yes dad?" I answered trying to calm myself. Dad came close.
"You must be tired," He uttered and sat down beside my bed.
"I'm not tired, I'm scared." I say, uncovering myself from the blanket.
"It's unbelievable, but I believe what you have now, is a gift." He claimed and held my hand. "I'll be here, whenever you need me. 'Cause you're my one and only Sleat." With a smile, he kissed my forehead and said goodnight.
I'm still on the process of accepting the fact, that I'm not a human. It's frustrating, Im not sure if it's something I can handle.
To be continued..
