OUT FOR BLOOD - CHAPTER 20 - Vampire Humor

CHAPTER 20:

JADEN'S POV:

After Catalina falls asleep on the couch, watching a movie, I pick her up and put her in the bottom of the bunk bed in the room. I close all of the heavy curtains in the apartment, since dawn is coming soon. Before I lay down for the night, I want to prepare for tomorrow night.

I call my parents' home number. Same woman answers, "Gallagher residence?"

"Put my father on the phone, please."

"One moment please." While I'm on hold, the music is some classical piece. Why don't they just be honest and play the 'Addam's Family' theme music?

"Jaden, son, so good to hear from you," my father says.

"Yeah sure, missed you too daddy dearest. I'm calling because I need your men, Jonathan and Daniel, to meet me at my warehouse at midnight tonight." I give my dad the address of the warehouse and get off the phone with him by lying and saying that I would come see mommy dearest soon. Yeah, right.

I have time to kill before dawn and since Catalina is asleep, I'm kind of bored. I sit down in front of the television and play 'Left 4 dead 2' on Xbox 360. I am so glad that I'm a vampire and not a zombie. No way would I get laid being a zombie. I think Catalina's right. I'm a pervert.

After an hour or so of playing, I can feel the sun setting. I'm already starting to feel dead tired. Pun completely intended. I'm so funny. Three hundred years can get pretty damn boring if you don't have a sense of humor. I turn off the game and TV.

When I get to the bedroom, Catalina is still sound asleep. She looks so adorable on the bottom bunk. I give her a little kiss on the lips, I don't want to disturb her, then I playfully snap my fangs at her. It would be funnier if she was awake. She'd probably get all adorably pissed off. As if she doesn't love it.

I jump up on the top bunk. I have a few more minutes until the sun starts to peek over the horizon. I think back on the night and our trip to visit her friends. They don't seem like bad humans, except maybe that Noah character. I can tell that he is just dying to put a stake through me. I don't blame him, though. After all, I am the one who got the girl.

Whatever. At least now Catalina has been assured that we don't have to watch our backs. Supposedly, the big bad hunters won't be coming after me. Not that I was worried. I could take all of them at once. I'm sort of annoyed that they will be coming tonight also, to kill Jonathan and Daniel. I don't think it needs to be such a production. The more people, the more complications.

I just want to get it done and over with. I'm looking forward to many years of bliss with my angel.

CATALINA'S POV:

I wake up to the sight of another bed over me. What the hell? Oh yeah. Jaden's bunk bed in his adolescent apartment. Guess I got the bottom bunk. That's like sitting bitch in a car. Not cool.

I get out of bed and peek over the top bunk. My lethargic boyfriend is in a vampire coma. Well, maybe not exactly like a coma, but it's probably similar to a human taking sleeping pills. Well, he's going to be no fun until the sun goes down. He does look so hot, though. Who would have thought that a man sleeping in a bunk bed could look sexy? I probably just think that because he's my man.

Hmm, what to do? Put his hand in some water? Oh wait, vampires don't pee. That won't work. Rub some peanut butter on his face? No, not creative enough. Slap him around while he's helpless? No, it'd probably end up turning him on. Pervert.
