I tried to forget about needing to question Carter but I couldn't. He was now in my study hall because his grades were slipping and the teachers thought it would be good for him. His seat was right next to mine so I decided to write a note since we weren't allowed to talk in the class. I asked
'There are some rumors going around school about how you got here. So I wanted to know how did you get here?'
He read the note but took forever to write back but when he finally did he it wasn't an answer I was expecting. All he wrote was 'don't worry about it.' I hated how I could never get a straight answer out of this kid he made me want to scream. I tried planning out strategic ways to get him to tell me but I didn't have any ideas so I gave up and just decided to be nice and try to be his friend. It didn't matter if he told me about himself.
The next few days at school I invited him to sit with me and my friends at our lunch table. I was kind of surprised that we had a lot in common. We liked the same music, the same books and he even liked motorcycles which I thought was the best machine known to man besides a cell phone. He was a pretty neat guy and it was fun having him as a friend. But I kept wanting to ask him more serious questions. I didn't because we just became friends and it would be weird if I asked him more questions.
That night after school I kept thinking about Carter. He was really cute and I thought I kind of liked him. But how could he like me I'm just the little weird girl he hung out with. But whatever.
