Chapter 4 continued

My stomach turned. I wasn’t sure that I wanted to know what he was hiding from me. Maybe he had a girlfriend from where he came from. Maybe he doesn’t really like me.

Carters POV

I guess it was time to tell her. Time to tell her everything about my past. I guess we will see if she really likes me. If she does she will keep my secret.

So I took the chance. “A few years ago my mother got married to a guy named Gary Junior. He wasn’t a very nice man but my mother was happy with him so I dealt with it. After a few years of them being married he started to beat her when he got angry. One night he went to far and beat her until she died. I was so mad I ran after him but he was to strong,” I took in a deep breath. “He started to beat me up and pushed me through the garage door and I fell to the floor. He started to walk away and I tried to find something to hit him with. I found a crow bar and hit him in the back of the head repeatedly. When I knew he was dead I ran. I ran as far as I could and ended up here. I took money with me and rented an apartment and changed my look completely. I didn’t want to get sent to prison for protecting myself.” All she did was look at me, I felt like I just ruined everything. “I'm sorry for telling you this but you wanted to know so I will leave if you don’t want me here.” I was standing by the door when she ran to me and gave me a hug promising that she wouldn’t tell anyone and that she loved me. I was so happy.
