'Take a deep breath girl.' I think to my self. I hit the one button and the elevator descends in silence. The elevator dings and I step out onto the lobby. I walk to the glass door the see Kaden standing there.
"You look nice Addison," he says.
"I'm in scrubs and so are you," I say.
He laughs and takes my hand, "I though I was supposed to say you look nice on a first date."
"Ok," I laugh.
"Ok you have to understand I'm a surgeon and really normally have no time for dating so I have no idea what I am doing." He says.
"I haven't been in a date in so long. I think I forgot what to do," were both laughing by now.
"Ok so I will drive and drop you off back at the hospital later to get your car. Is that ok?" Kaden asks.
"Um, I don't own a car. I live like two blocks down so I just walk to work." I say.
"Ok well I'll drive you home and start picking you up in the morning," he says.
"Oh my night in shining armor," I joke. He smiles at me. Just the way he looks at me makes my heart skip a beat.
"I'm on call tonight so how about we go eat burgers and fries and watch some stupid movie that we go to make fun of and end up hating it or loving it?" He asks.
"Deal," I say.
We walk to his car in silence, "My lady," he says opening my door.
"Oh thank you kind sir," I say in a British ascent.
"Addison I think you might be perfect for me," he says jokingly, but I can tell he is in some ways serious.
We look into each other's eyes, then he puts the car in gear and we start to drive. We pull over at some diner that looks straight out of the 50's.
"Where are we?" I asks.
"Nancy's," he replies, "It's like a 50's themed diner."
"Oh," I say.
"I know how it looks, but this is a really nice place and they make the best burgers and shakes. I've lived here all my life I mean of you don't want to then," he starts talking.
I interrupt him, "I think it's adorable."
"Ok," he says.
We walk in holding hands, he pulls my chair out and helps me in. Then he sits in front of me. This is quite a way to end a perfect day.
A woman in her late teens or early twenties skates over, "How can I help you?"
"Two chocolate shakes." He says.
"Right up." She says and skates away.
We laugh and talk for hours. We eat burgers, fries, and drink 4 chocolate shakes. I find out that he lived in Seattle until he was 18 then he went to collage in Texas and medical school in Tennessee.
"What about you how did you get here?" He asks.
"Well I'm a daughter of a pediatric surgeon. I lived in Seattle until I was 13 then I moved to Virginia. I went to collage in South Carolina and medical school in Florida." I say.
We tell stories and laugh until 11 o'clock. He pays the bill and we walk out to his car.
"Ok you can't pick me up every morning it will cost you to much in gas. So like every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday sound good to you?" I ask
"Sure," so you will be walking tomorrow, bring an umbrella," he says.
"It's always rainy in Seattle," I say.
"Yep that's about right." I say.
He drops me off at my apartment and walks me in. Stopping by the front door to number 15.
"This is my apartment," I say.
"Ok, goodnight. See you tomorrow." He says. Then he kisses my lightly in the lips. I smile and my heart skips.
"Goodnight," I say.
I walk in and then I shower. I'm tired but I need to make sure I get all the blood form my hair.
"Get me a clamp and get her cleaned off."
That will not be my best memory as a surgeon, but my first surgery will.
I'm so tired when I climb into bed I fall right asleep with the taste of Kaden's kiss still tingling my lips.
