4. Whatever I want

Bentley held his head in his hands and sat down against the door. Raven was pushing and scratching against it making terrifying growling noises. Jake knelt beside him. “Are you okay?” Bentley gave him a piercing look. “my pet has just tried to attack me how’d you think i feel?!” Jake shrugged then looked in the window. His eyes widened ; he could see raven scratching the table legs in a very savage manor. “maybe it gave him rabies?” Bentley gave an annoyed huff “that is not helping and besides rabies takes longer than that to spread”.

Bentley couldn’t help but feel this agonising feeling in his chest . somebody was trying to kill him! And  they tried to make raven do it. Suddenly Jake jumped back and landed on the muddy floor. Bentley got up and saw that raven was trying to break the glass. He frowned and Jake pulled a face , trying to flick the mud of his hands. “ugh! why is the floor so icky around here?!” Bentley smirked then fell silent. “what?!” he got up and looked thew the window. “can you  hear that?!” Jake got up and looked in to. Raven was sat their wagging his tail and whining. “do you think he’s trying to trick us?” Jake asked with genuine seriousness. Bentley laughed “you are joking right? he’s a dog you idiot how’d he be clever enough to do that”.

He turned round and tried to unlock the door. “he’s a dire wolf actually he may know more than normal dogs seen as he’s been around longer” Jake said grumpily. Bentley turned round and gave him a face then opened the door. They walked threw and surely enough raven was lying on his back wagging his tail. “you better now raven?” he asked still unsure. he barked and whined at him. “i think he’ll be ok”

I looked up at the both of them. somehow i still felt angry but i wasn’t a normal dog i could control my feelings. Bentley crouched down And petted me. I licked his face, asking for forgiveness. He laughed. “don’t worry raven i forgive you” Jake smiled. “but man do you have one heck of a bite” he held his savaged wrist and i walked over to him. I lay down in front of him and rolled onto my belly. He crouched down and stroked me. “it’s okay i forgive you too” Bentley huffed “come on let’s get going! I don’t want to have to see the vets face when he sees this room”. We all walked out of the clinic and found a gathering of people staring at us.  I sighed then carried on walking. They parted to let me past, staring at me with fear in their eyes. I huffed and walked back up to the palace.

"Raven get back here!” Bentley shouted at me i stopped and looked back . Bentley was at least a few yards  away. I huffed and waited for him. Jake was behind smiling at something. He gave me a knowing look and I tilted my head, confused. “I still don’t understand why he understands you” i gulped that’s why he was smiling. “he’s a dire wolf he would probably know the same amount of English i do. Seen as we grew up together. I bet the only reason he sometimes doesn’t react is because he doesn’t want to, not because he doesn’t understand” Bentley smirked and jakes smile fell.

I wandered what he thought was the reason. I sniffed Jake as he walked up. Nothing seemed different about him. He smiled down at me but i can see he was confused. Bentley looked around the palace courtyard. “i wonder where William and Henry are?” i smelt the air and sneezed. Damn pollen. Jake laughed at me.  “AWW he’s so cute!” I growled at him. “See he does understand i knew it!” Bentley rolled his eyes “yeah and i just said he probably is able to understand. Stop trying to make my dog sound like a monster okay” he chuckled and i  looked at jake. He was giving me a knowing look again and i  laid my ears back. What the hell?

Once we got to the library we immediately sat on chairs and  laid by the fire. Well i laid they sat. I looked up at Bentley, who was lounging on a sofa. I ran up to him and jumped on his back. “ooof. Argh raven get..” he yawned “..off” Jake laughed and i curled up on his back. An hour later both Jake and Bentley were asleep but i couldn’t  get comfy on his bony back. Well more like spiny. Suddenly Henry and William burst in with angry red faces. Their faces brightened up when they saw me.  “oh my! he’s alive! I thought we’d failed on avenging him. but we just failed on catching him!” i growled at them, that was important too.
