5. Tournament

I yawned and licked my lips as i watched a man servant get Bentley ready. I was the only one in here apart from those two and it was getting rather boring. Bentley smiled over at me and i tilted my head to the side. He started to laugh then winced when the man servant tightened the straps on his armour. I growled lowly at him and he gave me a nervous glance.

Sighing , i rested my head between my paws and groaned. Bentley rolled his eyes at me and grabbed his sword. He then dismissed the servant and walked over to me. I whined at him and wagged my tail as he stroked my head. “you’ve got my back? Haven’t you raven? If anything happens i can count on you right?” he asked me unsure and i wagged my tail. Bowing my head i let out a long and loud howl. “okay okay!” he started laughing then kissed me on the forehead. I whined at him  as he walked out and i followed. He wouldn’t do that if he knew i was a person.

I followed by Bentleys’ heel as he made his way out to the courtyard. His armour clattered and clinked and i couldn’t help but wince at the loud noise.  As we rounded the corner , music and cheering noises filled my ears. I moaned a growl and huffed while Bentley started smiling nervously. I sniffed the ground and caught a familiar scent. Bentley followed as i traced it into a tent. Standing there were all three of his friends and i ran up to greet them. They all bent down and stroked me as i clambered up their legs and their armour. “raven! Act your age” Bentley commanded and i whined. I ran back to him with my tail in between my legs and settled behind him. Jake rolled his eyes at me but the others rolled their eyes at Bentley. “dibs holding raven when Bentley’s out on the field”  Jake shouted and everyone groaned. “no fair it’s my turn” William protested and i smiled at how popular i was.

“I’m keeping him for now anyway. Make sure you sit on the practice benches  , i don’t want the crowd getting in the way of raven if something happens” he instructed them and i gave him  a smug look; he was so only still alive because of me.

I could smell Bentleys nerves as he made his way out into the courtyard. The others behind me became to chat nervously as we spied Bentleys’ opponent. He was looking  rather confident and was already in the middle of the ring. I growled at him and Jake patted my head. “I’m sure he’ll be fine” i looked up at him and he gave me a reassuring smile. What is with him? Growling, i walked past him and caught up with Bentley.  He looked down at me and smiled. “we can get through this raven he’ll be easy. Don’t you worry” i whined at him and licked his hand. Kneeling down , he stroked my head then kissed my forehead. “be good now! And don't come and save me too early” i whined at him as he walked off. “ Raven! This way we have to go round the back” i growled worriedly and set off following the others.

When we got to our seats, they all sat on these rotten benches and looked out to the ring. The actual crowd was the other side and i definitely felt out of place here. Sighing, i jumped up  onto all of their laps and spread out on them. They all moaned as i yawned ,using them as a comfy bed.

I looked up as the horn blew and noticed Bentley was already out in the ring. I must of actually fallen asleep. Yawning i jumped off of every ones lap only for  a pair of hands to tug me beck. I looked up to see Jake holding the scruff of my neck. “you can’t go anywhere Raven just stay here”” growling i sat down on the floor next to him and watched as Bentley walked up to this huge knight. He was smirking confident he was going to win. Growling i watched the man carefully. Suddenly he made a swing at him. Bentley jumped back and slashed with his sword, blocking the hit. I whined in anxiety as i watched them fight.

Bentley strained against the knight. He was blocking good enough but the knights weight was pushing him down. I whined and tried to go out into the arena. Jake pulled me back. “don’t worry i’m sure he’ll be okay” i gave him a worried look and he just smiled reassuringly at me. I huffed then laid back down under the bench. Bentley jumped back as the man took another swing at him. The knight  straightened himself then swung again. Bentley evaded and sliced through the man’s armour. He yelled and held his side. Bentley smirked at him and the knight slid his black helmet off. I started growling viciously at the man’s familiar face. It was the man from the armoury. Bentley seemed confused as he looked at his face. The man slashed out at him and he only just managed to block. Then suddenly realisation dawned across his face. He frowned at him then swung at him angrily. The man smiled at him then suddenly flicked his wrist in a patterned motion. Bentleys sword glowed purple then flew out of his hand. The crowd gasped in shock as the man carried on attacking him.

 I leaped forward and pulled against jakes hand. “no its too dangerous raven” Jake pulled me back .Henry and William glared at Jake. “let him go Jake he’ll be killed!”. Jake shook his head. “no Raven could be killed”. Williams face grew red“fine!” he lunged for Jake and he fell back, still holding onto my collar. Henry leaned forward and tried to pry jakes hands of it. “no!” Henry took jakes hand off and i jumped forward. I jumped off the fence in front and landed on the next one slightly below it.

I then jumped off of that and literally flew towards the man who was just about to take Bentleys head off. I hit him and sank my teeth into his skull to slow down. I span round his head, my teeth still biting. then let go landing backwards facing him. He shrieked in pain then gave me a surprised look. “how the hell are you still alive?” i growled at him viciously and the king stopped his guards from racing forwards. The crowd fell silent ; they knew this was about to get interesting (instead of frightening).

 The man lifted his hand up and i took a stepped forward ,still growling more viciously then i had ever done before. Bentley rubbed the back of his head and got up off the floor. he looked at me then back at the man and started to frown. “ow you bastard that hurt!” the man glared at him and reached for his sword. I lunged forward and buried my teeth into his arm. He yelped and tried to throw me off, swinging his arm around. I let go and flew backwards, only to land on my feet and start running towards him again

He picked up his sword and swung it at me. I dodged and jumped backwards. He sniggered and i lowered myself ready to pounce. I continued to growl at him but couldn’t make a move. I suspected his sword was the same type of metal that dagger was. Suddenly i heard three people behind me. I sniffed and knew it was Henry William and.. a dog? I looked back and saw jake there. Then i sniffed again and it was jakes scent i smelt. Weird what the hell did that knife do to me?  Suddenly there eyes went wide. I looked back and just managed to dodge the man’s sword. I growled at him and pounced. He started to swing at me but i just managed to jump over the path of his blade. I reached his head but decided to go lower this time.

I sank my teeth down into his neck and he screamed. I bit down harder and he swung his sword again it hit my back but with not allot of force. It went through my skin and i yelped, biting down harder. The man fell to the floor and dropped his sword. I just stayed there biting harder while the man screamed. “whoa raven stop! Your killing him!” jake screamed. “Shut up he deserves to die” Bentley said in an angry voice. I pushed down harder and pierced the jugular, blood squirted me and covered my face. “no! no one deserves to die!” he ran over and tackled me. I carried on biting and he tried to pull me away. I growled and he put his fingers in my mouth trying to pull them apart. “you don’t want killing someone on your conscience! Fight back the anger.” I thought about that. Of course i don’t and why was i killing him anyway.

I told myself i would control my anger. Jake managed to pull my mouth apart. I yelped and whined when he started pulling it too far apart. He pulled me away from the man and i tried to close my mouth on his fingers. He let go and put me in a head lock. I licked around my jaw. That hurt.

Bentley huffed and medics ran over to the man. “no!” the king shouted at them. “i would sentence him to death anyway!” the medics stopped and walked away. As the man slowly bled to death. “why why would you just let someone die!” Jake shouted in anguish. William gave him a stern look. “don’t shout at the king Jake just leave it okay!”  he huffed sadly and hugged my face. I growled but he didn’t let me go. “why’d you kill him? Murder is tough on anyone’s conscience..especially a ......never mind” he said while still buried in my fur. Bentley walked over to Jake “you do realise you’re supposed to be my friend? Not the dog’s right?” he said rather annoyed and Jake sighed. “i know I’m sorry i just don’t like it when things die or are in danger.... i thought you said he was a dire wolf not a dog?”  Bentley thought about that for a second and i growled at him. He knows i’m not a dog !right? “i don’t know i guess i just call him that sometimes..” jake moved away from me and looked into my eyes gloomily. “so he’s defiantly a dire wolf..nothing else?” Bentley looked at him confused and i gulped. “yep definitely a dire wolf now come on we better get going i need a rest.. the kings guards will deal with this” he told everyone to get up and go and i followed him out of the ring. Somehow i think this is going to be a busy couple of weeks.

OMG this is so badly written T_T lol
