Hanging by a thread

It was Mikan and the Giant standing face to face and eye to eye. Akito held onto Mikan's hand with the smallest tremble that came every now and then. If she wasn't scared herself she would've been teasing Akito by now. The giant gave one look at Akito and within a second snatched him away from Mikan.

Giant: This girl is going to take the test of the princess that we have long searched for. So, why are you still here?

Akito: I don't know, why does your breath still smell like skunks died in there?

The giant grew angry and threw Akito to the goblins where they thankfully caught Akito safely.

Giant: Take him back. There's no use for him here. Unless, of course you would like to dine on him.

Mikan: NOOO!!!

GIANT: HMM. What is it?

Goblins: Yeah yeah. What? Did you want some of ignorant boy too. Yeah yeah.

Giant: SILENT! (The goblins immediately became quiet).

Mikan: He's my...friend. So, I uh..I uh...I FORBID YOU TO EAT HIM!

GIANT: Forbid?

The giant kneeled down to look at Mikan directly in the eye.

Giant: And who are you to order me around?

Goblins: Yeah yeah. He the boss.

Giant: Don't ever order me around child. Hmm,(Pointing to Akito), take the boy back where he came from immediately.

Goblins: But boss. You said..you said we..we could

Giant: I KNOW WHAT I SAID NOW TAKE HIM BACK!!!

The goblins grunted and climbed their way up the hole with Akito who was to frightened to say a word.

Giant: Now, back to business. This test will determine whether you live or not.

Mikan: Wait what?

Giant: Didn't see that coming, did you?

Grabbing Mikan by the back of her collar the giant placed her on a high ledge that was over 100 feet high. She looked down and saw a large bowl full of water. The ledge was cracking. Sweat dripped down her head and cheeks.

Giant: There's a maze. (Placing a maze shaped thing in back of Mikan). If you can find your way down without dying, you will be crowned princess and be able to live. But, you must get through the maze first.

He grabbed Mikan by the collar once more to place her behind the maze where there was a sign that had said 'START'.

Giant: NOW GO!

Mikan ran in and was immediately lost. She looked around but it all seemed to dark for her to see. The inside stunk like rotten eggs in the garbage truck. The floor was as sticky as old chewed up gum.

*30 minutes later*

Mikan had felt like she had been walking for hours. She stopped for a moment to take a break in a spot that actually seemed clean. She fell to her knees and not that long after she heard a crack. She felt under her knees but there was nothing there. In a matter of seconds, the ground cracked and Mikan fell. A loose thread from her shirt held her up as she swung from the broken cliff.
