Luke stood infront of the mirror, knotting his tie carefully as his hands shook.
"Here, let me," Calum said, pulling his hands away and untying the sloppy knot, retying it perfectly.
"Thanks," Luke said, sighing as Calum fixed the boy's blond hair.
"Nervous?"
"No. It's just the medication. I haven't been able to stop shaking?" He sighed. And held his hands out, showing him how much he shook.  Calum took his hands in his own and held them tightly.
"Let's go to work," he whispered, kissing Luke's cheek. He just nodded and followed his boyfriend out of the house. They got into the silver car and Calum drove them to work. They walked together to the back office room and split off to head to their desks. Luke sat down at his desk and found the new file, with a plastic bag full of his own notes they couldn't remake. He pulled out a notepad and started copying them down.
"Wow... Luke Hemmings, Prosecuting Attorney," someone said, startling him. He looked up and felt his stomach flutter as his eyes met a set of grey green eyes.
"Michael..." he said, looking down. "Hey... long time no see..."
"Yeah.. it really has..." Luke glanced up at him awkwardly, taking off his glasses as Calum came over.
"Hey, sorry just give me two more minutes," he said, running over to Nia's office.
"Luke, I just need to tell you... I'm really sorry about that-"
"Don't apologize... seriously. I over reacted... I was unfair."
"No... you were right. I was unfair to take advantage of you... and I was confused." Luke looked down at his desk again. Michael stared at him, wondering if the blond boy was still in love with him. "Maybe now we can catch up sometime... maybe catch some lunch?"
"Maybe..." Luke replied as Calum came back over.  "Okay, sorry about that. Ready?"
"Yeah.." Michael replied.
"Great. Oh, Luke, lunch at noon?"
"Yeah, sounds great," Luke replied, looking awkwardly between the two boys.
"Cool. See you later then, babe." He kissed him on the cheek and led Michael to his desk.
"Are... are you two together?" Michael asked as they sat at Calum's desk.
"Yeah. Weird right? College roommates and now we're together."
"Yeah... weird," he whispered, looking down. Luke was dating one of their roommates... but it wasn't Michael. And little did they know how much it was killing them both...

Luke finished up his notes and sighed, looking up at the clock. It was noon, and Calum was just finishing up with a client.
"Luke... we have a bit of a change in the case," Nia said, running over to him at his desk.
"What is it?" He asked, staring up at her.
"We have a potential witness... he's been buying from and working for Blackbeak for years... but he's only going to help us out if we help the charges get dropped from against him... that's where you come in. I need you to represent him. Starting out with his terms..."
"O-okay. When do I meet with him?"
"He's here now..."
"Oh. Okay. Yeah. I'll just. I have to talk to Calum for a second, but then I'll meet you in the room?"
"Great." She turned and ran off. Luke stood and put his glaces on, running over to Calum.
"Babe, I'm super sorry, but I have to cancel lunch, there's been a break in the case."
"Oh... okay, that's fine. Do what you have to do. Maybe we can catch dinner later."
"Yeah definitely." Luke placed a kiss on his soft lips before turning and running off to the room.
"Luke, just so you know... be careful. He's gone a few days now without any heroine, he's experiencing withdrawals. A police officer will be in the room with you, but if he starts going crazy, you get out. Understood?"
"Yeah, of course."
"Okay. Now get in there." Luke nodded and turned the door handle, walking into the dim room. A young man sat in a chair faced away from him, his hands handcuffed to the metal bar on the table. He stared at the cop in the corner of the room as he dug the metal cuffs into his wrists. Luke grabbed the case folder and opened it, feeling his heart drop. He walked around the table and sat down infront of the man who now stared at him.
"Oh Lukey, look at you. You've become a big lawyer now?" He laughed, his eyes insane.
"Ashton... what are you doing here?" He asked quietly.
"Oh you know, I've been a bad boy, now I'm here... I guess that's what happens when you become a druggie, but hey lucky you. I want to help you catch the dicks at Blackbeak." Luke cleared his throat and pulled out his pen and tablet.
"We need to make a deal. You stand as a witness and give us a good enough statement to win us the case we'll help you. We just need to come up with an agreement."
"Fine whatever. I'll help you win the charges get dropped. Tada, write it up, I'll even sign it."
"Ashton, it isn't that simple. By the looks of you file, you're in a lot of trouble..."
"Oh boo hoo, I didn't do anything that bad..."
"You assaulted a man under extreme hysteria due to a drug induced haze, you ran a police car off the road trying to obtain a mass amount of heroine that was impounded after they found you nearly overdosed with your girlfriend... who died that day... should I continue?"
"I didn't try stealing the heroine.. believe me, I have a stash. They took something else. Something they shouldn't have because they're all a bunch of thieving assholes! You hear me, bitch? I'm talking to you!" He shouted, standing and struggling against the handcuffs, causing his wrists to bleed. The officer stepped forward and Luke stood up.
"No, it's okay. Ashton sit down. You're in enough trouble as it is and if you step out of line, at all, you'll go straight to the judge, without a deal, and you'll be locked away with countless people you've screwed over. So sit down and shut up..." he sighed and fell down into his seat.
"What do you suggest then, Lukey?"
"You give us the statement we need, testify in court and then you'll be released under one condition. You check yourself into a rehab of my choice for as long as it takes to get you to clean up. Understood?" Ashton clenched his jaw and glared at his old friend, scratching at the scabs on his hand. "Ashton, do we have an agreement?"
"Yes, fine. Whatever. Write up your stupid contract." Luke smiled lightly and started writing down the formal agreement. When he finished it, he had Nia come in to make it official before Ashton signed it.

Luke walked into his apartment and sighed, dropping his bag next to the door.
"Babe, you here?" He asked, pulling off his coat.
"Hey," Calum said coming in the room. "Where have you been? I was starting to worry..."
"Sorry, I just got caught up at the office, we had a huge crack in the case and I had to do a bunch. Really, I'm sorry."
"No, it's uh. It's fine... I was just starting to worry a bit because I wasn't sure if..." he cleared his throat and looked down at the ground, his arms folded across his chest. "Never mind, it's stupid..."
"Were you worried that I was attacked again?" Luke asked quietly. Calum looked up at him, biting his lip as he tried holding back the tears that brimmed his eyes as he nodded.
"I was afraid that they cane after you again... that you didn't make it this time..." a single tear slipped down his cheek and he quickly wiped it away, looking down. Luke stepped forward and pulled him into a tight hug.
"Hey, it's okay. You're not going to lose me, I promise..." Calum wrapped his arms around Luke tightly, as if he was afraid that if he let go, the boy would disappear forever.
"You're the first person I've actually cared about in so long," he whispered. "The way I feel about you, I've never felt this way about anyone else..." he sniffed and pulled away from Luke, looking up into his deep blue eyes. "I'm in love with you..." he whispered. "I've been thinking about it so much... a-and... I know this is soon and we've only really been exclusive for a few weeks, but Luke, I've known you for nearly my entire life... and I know that you're the one I want to be with. The only one. So... before I can back out or second guess myself on this, I have to ask you something important..." he pulled out a small box from his pocket and got down on one knee. Luke felt his heart jump into his throat as he clapped his hands over his mouth, stifling the small squeak that escaped his lips. Calum opened the box, revealing a black and silver ring with a small diamond on it. "Luke Robert Hemmings.. will you be my forever and do me the honor of becoming my husband?" A million thoughts swarmed Luke's mind and time seemed to stand still. He loved Calum, of course he did, but he wasn't quite sure if he was in love with the boy... he didn't want to hurt him and he was the only one who seemed to be there for him after the whole Michael situation. Before he even knew what he was doing, he nodded his head.
"Of course I will," he said breathlessly. Calum smiled and pulled the ring out, slipping it on his finger before standing up and kissing his fiance. Life was flipping itself upside down.
