The physics of baby mobiles

It was a typical Sunday afternoon, Alfred's mother was taking a nap, and Alfred was supposed to be doing the same, but genius babies don't have time for naps, so Alfred lay restless his crib, staring at the mobile that bobbed above him. A little ducky and a cow and a moon and stars, bobbed up and down in their orbit above him. Alfred stared, transfixed by the mobile.

Nap time was secretly his favorite time, because during nap time, when everyone else in the family was either asleep or at work, he could unhinge the secret, loose bar of his vintage crib, crawl into his father's office, and marvel at the floor to ceiling mahogany shelves full of knowledge, books.

Tonight, Alfred knew just what he was looking for. The mobile had piqued his curiosity, and it was time to do some physics research. He was looking for a novel he had seen his father reading, "centripetal force: the force that holds the universe together." Ah, yes. Baby Alfred's chubby fingers were tingling with his excitement.
