Like most five month old babies, Alfred remembered his birth, but unlike most five month old babies, Alfred could describe it, word for word in explicit detail. However, he never told anyone this. No one even knew that he was capable of speech. Sometimes he slipped up, and the words would strat to come out of his mouth, but he would always finish them with garbles and gurgles, so they sounded like typical baby jibberish. It was one of these typical days when Alfred was sitting in his high chair, awaiting his breakfast, which had been delayed, due to an untimely phone call his mom recieved, which was clearly, more important that Alfred.
Alfred squirmed impatiently in his seat, trapped by the plastic tray that was supposed to have food on it. Though he was highly intelligent, his coordination was unfortunately still at its normal developmental speed, and he crawled, sometimes slid, from one place to another and did not yet have the coordination necessarry to unhinge the pesky tray and escape the dreaded high chair. So instead he opened his tiny mouth.
"MOTHER! IF YOU DONT"..He heard his mother hang up the phone. She sounded alarmed. Alfred suddenly realized what he had said, and quickly stopped himself. He finished his sentence with a string of gargles and gagas.
"alawaaaaahhhhh WAHH WAH WAG WAB WAB BAH!
Alfred's mother came running in, a plastic spoon in one hand and a jar of baby formula in the other.
Thank you, mother. Alfred said in his head.
