The soothing sound of the classic violin playing in the background, echoed through the chic-looking restaurant in which Junhui and I currently were in. Junhui, or should I say Jun since he told me to talk informally towards him, had suddenly asked me to go on a dinner with him. I, who had been helped by him, could not reject his request and had politely agreed.
Yet, somehow the mood around us seemed so awkward, that I felt out of place.
"Do you not have any appetite?" He asked as noticed me leaving the steak untouched.
"I do." Even if I didn't, it would be impolite to leave it to turn cold.
I cut the steak into bite-size pieces and occasionally looked up from my plate, gazing at the boy right in front of me. He smiled sweetly, a radiating smile that was able to make the women surrounding him faint from his looks.
It made me almost choke on my steak.
I started coughing heavily and reached out for the glass that was right in front of me.
Feeling the lump going down, I continued coughing, causing my hand to accidentally bump against the glass of red wine. Seeing it almost tumble over and stain the white cloth with its reddish liquid, both Jun and I reached out for the wine glass. His firm hand covered mine and held tightly on, preventing the glass from tumbling over.
I was surprised for a moment. My heart strangely skipped a beat and made me speechless in an instant.
Once I became conscious of what was happening again, I quickly pulled my hand out of his stern grip and lowered my gaze to hide my sudden embarrassment.
He frowned, but quickly hid his expression with his words. "Are you alright?"
"Yes, I was just... surprised." I answered, avoiding his gaze. The air between us became even thicker after that.
Not so long after, I heard him put his fork down, as the silence between us was still vividly present. "I guess I'm making you uncomfortable. You can't even look me straight in the eyes. I am sorry for making such a tiring request." He apologised and let out a short sigh.
"I just really wanted to get the opportunity to know you better." He awkwardly scratched his neck, showing his sudden decrease in confidence.
"No, don't misunderstand! I was just really surprised, I don't really mind spending my time with you." I answered, worried that he would feel bad. "I actually want to know more about you too." I answered hastily and convinced him by quickly stuffing a piece of meat in my mouth.
Chewing thoroughly with puffy cheeks and nodding as if I enjoyed it, I saw him stiffle a laugh. He seemed to relax a little and was now smiling.
"You're really kind." He grinned. "And even cuter than I thought." He finished, causing me almost to choke again.

After we were finished, Jun paid for everything as he had promised, even though I had offered to split the bill. He refused to let me pay and guided me to the exit instead. Together, we were almost outside until his phone suddenly rang.
I saw him read the caller's ID, of which I could only catch a glimpse of some sort of characters as name, and he looked at me with a troubled expression.
"I need to take this call, but it might take a while. Do you mind waiting outside?"
I shook my head, knowing he was busy even though he brought me here and walked out of the building alone.
The streets surrounding me were dark, only enlightened by some tall street lanterns. A cold wind passed me, causing me to shiver as I was only wearing my thin summer school uniform without a coat.
