Chapter 1: Foreshadowing

My eyes shot open, I could feel my heart palpitate rapidly against my chest as I gasped for air. Panicked and having difficulties with breathing, I quickly reached out for the remote on my nightstand. Once it was in my hands, I pressed the blue button and felt my breathing become regular again. The clicking sound of the room took the darkness away and let out the morning light shine through my room.

Seeing the trees from the outside and the clouds on the ceiling, I felt myself slowly calm down as my whole room had become transparent. The walls had disappeared and only revealed the free outside world to me. The suffocating feeling I had before, had completely disappeared.

It was a dream, just a dream, I tried assuring myself as I exhaled and inhaled the air. I felt my heart still beat like crazy and noticed my hands trembling. My cold fingertips touched my neck and I felt shivers going up my spine.

If only it was.

Everything felt so real. As if it really happened or was going to happen. A nagging feeling told me it was the latter. Tonight, even. Yesterday, my father notified me of the party that the Choi household was going to host and I would have to go no matter what to show formalities.

Just like in my dream, the ballroom was identical to the one of the Choi's since I've been there often. But, their security was one of the strongest, the guards had been trained for years and never had something bad occurred. Maybe, I was just overthinking it and being superstitious. It was just a dream after all and those would never come true.

I slowly calmed down and stared outside for a while to sort out my thoughts. Glancing at the clock I saw that it almost was time to go to school and stepped out of the bed. Switching the walls back to its original state, the room instantly darkened. The scenery of the place outside had vanished and were replaced by the pastel-coloured wallpaper.

Switching the alarm off, I slipped my cotton slippers on and walked to the bathroom to prepare myself for school.

I stepped out of the vehicle and wished my personal driver goodbye before walking towards the gate. I felt the fresh morning air brush past me and shivered a little from the cold.

Reaching the school's gate, I politely greeted the guards who were on the lookout as usual.

"Yeon!" I suddenly heard someone scream from behind. When I stopped my tracks, I soon was engulfed in a big hug by my best friend Seungkwan.

"Good morning." I smiled at the redbrown-haired fluff ball who was full of excitement right in the early morning. I heard him pant a lot until he responded me.

"Mor *huff* ning." He breathed out as he caught his breath.

"I told you not to run, Seungkwan." Hansol nagged as he neared us on a calm pace. He then fixed his hair and brushed his brown locks to the back.

"I just didn't want Yeonhwa to walk alone." Seungkwan remarked. "We can't make her seem like a loner, right?"

"Thanks, Seungkwan. I really appreciate your presence." I told him, letting the sarcasm shine through.

"Of course, you do. Who wouldn't enjoy my presence?" He asked us, playfully. At that moment, Hansol's eyes met mine and we grinned slyly. Seungkwan noticed it and pouted unhappily in response.

"Fine, I'll just leave you two alone." He huffed before crossing his arms in discontent. He then strutted forwards, leaving the two of us behind. I saw his head lowered as he suddenly seemed upset. I chuckled at his childish act and quickly caught up with him. I held onto his sleeve to stop him.

"We were just joking." I assured as I saw his sullen expression. He seemed dramatically more affected than I thought. When his expression didn't change, I embraced him in a warm hug to cheer him up.

"Don't be like that, Seungkwan-ah." I coed while pouting. "I do like you being with me and so does Hansol. If you aren't here there who will secretly steal Hansol's caps and chains to dress like Boonon? Who will sing us awake over the phone every morning? Without you, our lives will become so boring." For some reason, I went too much into depth than I wanted, but that didn't really matter. I patted him on his back to comfort him. He seemed to be in a better mood after hearing my words.

Hansol on the other hand, only looked in a slight shock as I had spilled Seungkwan's little secret about the disappearance of his belongings.

Seungkwan then looked up with a confused look on his face. His cheeks were bright red and matched his ears which were in the same shade. "I-I was joking too." He stuttered before breaking free and running away from us, leaving me flabbergasted.

"Seungkwan was acting strange." I said to Hansol who only gazed away in the far distance with a knowing look.

"Leave him be, he probably left something in his locker and needed to get it before the lesson starts." Hansol reasoned convincingly, making me not worry too much about it. "I hope that's the case." I simply answered.

We walked through the hallways and still saw no sight of Seungkwan. He probably had already gone to the classroom without telling us. Therefore, we decided to go there too.

All of sudden, someone harshly brushed past me, I caught a glimpse of his golden brown eyes which looked at me in annoyance as we had slightly bumped into each other. He let out a soft scoff as I didn't apologise and ignored his whole existence thereafter.

Before he could utter a single word, he was called by someone in the distance. "Myungho, come here." A familiar voice beamed, causing me to look in the same direction like that so-called 'Myungho' did.

As warmth radiated from the source of the sound, I saw him smile brightly as he waved at him to come. In contrast to 'Myungho' who seemed to always radiate a plain and irritated atmosphere, he seemed much nicer and approachable.

I saw him slump to the sandy-coloured blondie who was still smiling as cheerful as before. He slung his arm around his neck and walked away with him, probably to their next class.

The blonde one then turned his back to look back. For one short moment, we locked eyes. Holding onto it for seconds, I then saw him turn away again as 'Myungho' nudged him.

It was Wen Junhui, I recognised him from the picture. His name was on the top of my father's list, the list of potential husbands who my father wanted me to marry.

Btw, about the MC's room, when it turns transparent, the walls sort of turn into a window. She can see what's outside the room (including the hallways), but people outside only see the normal walls. When its switched off, the walls are covered again by idk another wall and then the room looks like a regular one again. Its a bit vague and it doesn't exist but I hope you get the idea.
