Many murmurs of wonder and confusion echoed through the ball room as no one turned on the lights again. In the darkness, we remained still. With the ominous feeling never leaving me.
A hand sneaked up my shoulder and soon reached my neck. I shrieked in surprise. Feeling its cotton gloves cover my mouth, stifling my screams, I trailed down my thigh and felt the elastic band wrapped around it. Pulling out the knife in a swift motion, I attacked the invader in the lurking darkness which revealed less than a visible shadow.
Hearing a slicing sound, a muffled groan ringed through my ears and the person who had captivated me shortly lost its grip, giving me the opportunity to back away rapidly. Leaving the knife in its flesh, I rushed away, without an single idea of where I was going.
I tried silencing my quick steps in search of a way out. Behind me, I heard his threatening footsteps haunt me as I tried to escape this untraceable maze of blackness. I panted heavily and held onto my dress, preventing myself from tripping over it. Blood rushed to my ears and I heard it rapidly gushing to my heart. I feared for my life and only increased my pace.
Suddenly, I crashed loudly against someone when I thought I had reached an end. It could've been an invited guest, or simply a servant who had lost its way, at worst it had been the same person as before.
But, it was neither. It was another heavily-built man who instantly grabbed both of my arms and caged me by his side. He belonged to them, I thought as I could hear him talk through his ear piece. I was done for, that was for sure.
Yet, the man's touch soon disappeared. Soon, I was in someone else's hold, one who was much weaker in comparison to the other. Was he saving me or was I simply passed on to someone else? The nagging feeling of doubt still hadn't left yet. So, I tried resisting and running away again. But, the man's grasp was too strong and didn't let go no matter how many times I struggled or shook it away. Letting out a flinch from pain as the grip only tightened and erased my paths of escape within a wink, I then finally shouted for help.
Yet, no sound escaped my lips as a piece of cloth suppressed my screams, I felt my body stiffen in fear as I all of sudden couldn't move. As I was still being pulled away, I felt my body tremble in fear. My breathing slowly became irregular and I knew that I wouldn't last long. The darkness had been a stuffy place as no visible thing could be seen. It had been a miracle, that I was still standing strong.
Unknowingly, my hand brushed against his side, I instantly felt a wet liquid trickle down my hand from where I had touched.
I shivered, my heart beat against my ribcage and I knew it was the same person as before.
Many questions beamed in my mind while I remained conscious. How did they find me? How were they able to look for me through this darkness? But, most importantly how did they know?
Feeling my body gradually lose its strength, I felt myself give up and tears burn in my eyes. It was no use. I had no means to defend myself anymore. Letting out a strained cry, I felt my captor loosen its grip a little. I felt his hand move to mine, and pinch slightly in assurance while trying to calm me down. Strangely, I felt a tad bit better. Not a lot, but the warm gesture made my stomach turn from familiarity.
Who are you?
I wondered and wiped my tears dry with the palm of my hand. As I unconsciously reached out for him, I felt him finally let go of me. An undecipherable voice spoke through a small device through the person's ear. Without myself knowing of his vanished presence, the lights suddenly lit up again. One by one, the room was enlightened again with many of the guests in confusion.
I instantly looked around, but it was no use. The abductor had disappeared like the wind. However, one thing was left behind. In my hand was a small button with golden lines framing its edges. While fighting back, I had accidentally grasped one of his pockets and before I knew it, the button had broken loose and ended up in my hand.
"Are you alright?" Jun rushed towards me and checked for any injuries. With a worried expression, he scanned my body and sighed in relief when he saw I was unharmed. My mind was still fazed by the accident and I gripped tightly onto the button, scared that any evidence of that person would evaporate right in front of me.
He hugged me spontaneously, concerned about my well-being while I just spaced out in front of me. My gaze was fixated on the shadow that disappeared behind the entrance.

I had sewn the tiny decorative button on a pure white ribbon and had tied it around my wrist to prevent myself from losing it. Hiding it under my sleeve, I walked towards my locker while carrying my heavy stack of books.
Since yesterday, my mind still hadn't completely been fine. It came as a shock after all. Although it was an expected one, events dramatically changed and all I was left was one single clue. The button.
Many questions roamed through my mind like a mess. Who could it be. Did he knew me or was he simply ordered to do his job? Was it someone from my age or and adult man? He could even be watching me right now, or staying at the same school. Whoever it was, he had certainly better intentions than the one behind it all.
My focus laid on the many possibilities that I forgot to pay attention. Before I knew it, a small crash happened and I dropped all my books in surprise. Now they were all sprawled on the floor and I had to pick them up.
"Sorry for bumping onto you." I said as I knelt down and picked up the books on by one.
"Nah, it's fine." He replied as he handed me one of the books. Upon hearing his familiar voice, I froze and looked up, instantly staring right into his gleaming eyes.
Astonished with his sudden presence, our hands touched. I quickly pulled back my hand and rashly grabbed the rest. "Thank you for helping." I bowed politely before standing up in a rush. I stood wobbly as I held the heavy books and I saw him reach out for me and held a part of the books to help me stand stable.
"I'll carry them for you." Junhui said to me before taking the books from me without my permission. I wanted to grab them back as I did not want to bother further when I already did.
"You don't have to." I told him as I attempted on stealing back the books with no success.
"No, I like helping you." He held them from a high distance, causing me unable to reach them because of my rather short height.
I sighed as I saw the books high in the sky and gave up.
"You really didn't have to." I complained once again as he put them in my locker.
"I do. I can't let a beautiful lady like you do all this heavy work, can I?"
"They're just some books...but still thank you very much." I shyly bowed. By now, my cheeks were probably tinted red again.
"You're welcome." He patted my head happily. "Let's go shall we?" He meant going to the cafeteria together.
I nodded in agreement. Feeling a burning stare at the back of my head, I swiftly looked to the back and saw a figure.
In the far distance, I saw Myungho observe us as he leaned against the wall with crossed arms. From his position it seemed as if he had been looking at us for a long time. When he noticed my glance, he walked away uninterested again, leaving many question marks in my head.
