Chapter Three

Sunday I spent my day laying around with my little brother, Jake. He was thirteen and in seventh grade. He was quite popular, unlike myself. He brought at least five kids over after school to hang out, study and eat the fridge.

He had more girlfriends then I ever had boyfriends- which was only Skyler. But we were a close family and no matter what Jake and I hung out every Sunday.

I raced my car in front of his and bumped my shoulder against his. "I'm winning!"

"Ugh," he leaned closer to the screen, "not for long!"

Jake was actually large for a kid. He almost reached my hight, which wasn't very tall. He had shaggy blonde hair which he took the color from my mother. He also had her eyes, a light gray. He was very smart and talented. He could already play the guatar, keyboard and skate board like a young Tony Hawk.

I stretched my arm to block his view. He yelled in protest but laughed.

I crossed the checkered finish line as the door bell rang.

"You cheated!" Jake yelled throwing a pillow at me as I got up to answer the door.

"Rematch," I throw it back hitting him in the face.

I opened to find Skyler standing on the porch leaning against the frame. "Hey babe."

I smiled, "hey." He gave me a quick peak, "what are you doing here?"

"Theres a party at Victoria's, want to go?"

I turned towards the living room. Jake was setting up his car, changing the color. "I can't. It's our day." He should know. Its the same every Sunday.

Skyler rolled his eyes, "oh come on. Tell the little guy to invite friends over."

I laughed, "yeah right. And besides I have to make him dinner and I have class tomrrow."

He hooked his thumbs through my belt loops and pulled me outside closing the door with his foot. "Its one night, Lilly. He doesn't need a babysitter."

I sighed, "he doesn't but I'm his sister and this is our day. If you want to join I'm making pasta for dinner and then were watching the Avengers."

He took his hands off of my jean shorts and grabbed the keys from his pocket, "I'm good. If you change your mind call me."

I nodded knowing I couldn't do that. Within five minutes he got the party he would already be too drunk to answer his phone.

I walked back inside and grabbed the remote.

Jake hit the start button and we raced through an ice track. Jack sighed quietly next to me, "You know I don't like that guy, right?"

I cracked a smile. Jake sometimes acted like my big little brother. "Why?"

Out of the corner of my eye I saw him strug, "I don't have a good feeling about him. And he calls me 'little guy'; Im not little."

I laughted letting Jake win that round.

Stirring the noddles around the pot I glanced out the window. Tree silhouette hung right outside the boarder to our yard. The sky was black almost blending in to the tops of the oak trees. I could see the fire pit on the porch along with four chairs and a small table.

The back light clicked on detecting movement. I jump slightly and looked around the light up yard. A soccer ball, football and skate board laid across the large green grass covered lawn.
